Whatever Kris Jenner wants, Kris Jenner gets, so when The Kardashians star Kim Kardashian wanted to wear Marilyn Monroe’s gown to the 2022 Met Gala, Kris made it happen. Initially, Ripley’s Believe it Or Not sent Kim a replica for her to try on. When the replica didn’t fit, Kim wasn’t allowed to try on the real gown. Kim went to extremes to shed 16 pounds, which she received a lot of criticism for, in order to fit into Marilyn’s dress. However, the museum still didn’t want Kim to try on the real dress since it is 60 years old and very delicate.
Luckily for Kim, it was Kris to the rescue when she almost didn’t get what she wanted. In the latest The Kardashians episode, Kim visits Ripley Believe It or Not’s Orlando location where the dress resides. The star explained that the visit was only possible because of momager Kris. According to Kim, “They were not gonna let me wear this dress. They weren’t even gonna let me try it on, until Kris Jenner calls.” A producer then asked Kris what she did to change Ripley’s mind about the gown, but Kris would not reveal her secrets. However, she did reveal she used her signature motto. Kris told the producer, “when somebody says no, you know what I say. You’re talking to the wrong person.” Kim explained that after Kris found the right person to talk to, they agreed to let Kim try on the dress, and if it fit, she could wear it to the Met Gala.
Kim Kardashian Caused Controversy When She Wore Marilyn Monroe’s Gown
As fans know, from the controversy Kim caused in May, the dress fit, and she got what she wanted. When Kim hit the red carpet in the 1962 gown, the public was outraged. They claimed it was insulting to the iconic actress, and they thought it was irresponsible of the museum to lend her such an old and delicate gown. Luckily, Marilyn’s estate was on her side, saying the actress would have been happy about her wearing the dress. Some even claimed Kim is the modern-day Marilyn. One person who was proud of her was Kris. The momager arrives early to the Met Gala every year so she can stand at the top of the staircase and watch all of her daughters walk the red carpet.
Earlier in The Kardashians season 2, fans got a behind-the-scenes look at the family’s controversial Variety interview where Kim made her infamous work comments. Also, in the interview, Khloe recited Kris’ motto. Clearly, this advice works as Kris is known for going behind the scenes and talking to whoever she has to in order to get what she and her family wants. Kim did not go from being Paris Hilton’s best friend and having a leaked sex tape to a self-made billionaire by having a mother who lets other people tell her no. Critics can say they have no talent and are famous for doing nothing, but despite what they believe, Kris is a smart businesswoman who knows exactly what she’s doing.
While it seems like Kim can snap her fingers and get whatever she wants, there are still people who don’t take her seriously and don’t want to be associated with her. While Ripley’s didn’t say this was the case when they wouldn’t lend her Marilyn’s dress, it’s possible it was. Luckily, everyone takes Kris seriously because she doesn’t give them the option not to. The Kardashians star may not give away all her secrets, but it’s pretty clear Kris is naturally strategic and knows how to make it work in her favor.
