How Old Adonis Is In Creed 3

How Old Adonis Is In Creed 3

The Creed franchise has never given a clear indication of Adonis Johnson Creed’s age, making it hard to tell how old he is in Creed III. Adonis is the protagonist of the Creed trilogy, which acts as a series of sequels to Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky movies. Stallone reprises his role as Rocky, but the films focus on Michael B. Jordan’s character as he fights his way to the top of the boxing world. The first film starts off in 1998 when Adonis is a child in a juvenile detention center, and his passion for fighting has gotten him in trouble. When the first film flashes to the present day, 2015, Adonis is an adult who quits his job to pursue boxing.

Creed II hit theaters in 2018, three years after the original film. Rocky, who was diagnosed with cancer in Creed, seems to have recovered by the second. However, Stallone has confirmed he will not be in Creed III as the film was going in a different direction than the first two, and he felt his character no longer fit into the story. Clearly, in Creed III, Adonis is ready to stand on his own, no longer a boy or even a young man, but a fully-grown man who has come into his own. Here’s how old he is throughout the Creed movies.

Adonis Is 39 Years Old In Creed 3

How Old Adonis Is In Creed 3

Adonis’ age is hard to pin down as it was never confirmed in the first film, and when it was stated in the second film, it didn’t make sense with the timeline. A quick online search of Adonis Creed’s birthday reveals he was born on June 1st, 1986, which means in the year 2023, he would be turning 37. However, Jordan has confirmed that Creed III will have a significant time jump from the second film. While Creed II came out only five years ago, the third installment takes place seven years after the previous film. This places the characters in the year 2025, and based on Adonis’ birthday, he is either 38 or 39, depending on what time of the year the film takes place. It’s unclear if the film will state how old Adonis is or if it will remain open for debate among fans. The film also may not be following a logical timeline, like in the second film.

In the first Creed movie with Sylvester Stallone, Adonis looked to be around 12 years old in 1998 when his father’s wife adopted him. This adds up, given his 1986 birth year. However, his age is never confirmed, though he is clearly out of college when he is working his office job before quitting to pursue boxing. However, things get confusing in Creed II when Adonis is preparing to fight Danny “Stuntman” Wheeler. The Tale of the Tape that appears on screen reveals that Adonis is 28 years old. If the movie takes place in 2018, this would mean Adonis was born in 1990. This can’t be possible if his father died in 1985. He also looked a lot older than just 8 years old at the beginning of the first Creed. It’s unclear why the filmmakers made this decision about his age or if it was a mistake.

When Was Adonis Born During The Rocky Movies?

Adonis’ father, Apollo Creed, was the antagonist in the Rocky film series. The original series also has a confusing timeline, but according to when the films came out, Apollo died after a boxing match against Ivan Drago in Rocky IV in 1985. At this point, Adonis’ mother would have to have been pregnant with him. Another Rocky film was not released for five years. When Rocky V came out in 1990, Adonis was about 4 years old. The Creed protagonist had to have been born in between the two films.

Unfortunately, the information from Creed II makes it hard to understand how old Adonis is. However, assuming the film made a mistake when stating he was 28 in 2018, he is certainly nearing 40 in Creed III. This makes him a few years older than Jordan is in real life, but based on when Apollo Creed died in the Rocky franchise, it’s the only age that makes sense. Hopefully, Creed III can clear the timeline up for fans, but if not, they might be left wondering and theorizing about the boxer’s age until the next film.
