How Long Does It Take To Beat Dead Space 3?

It’s the final chapter of the series so how long does Dead Space 3 take to beat? The original Dead Space arrived in 2008 and was billed as the start of brand new survival horror franchise. The story followed mute protagonist Isaac Clarke as he battled his way through a spaceship filled with twisted creatures called Necropmorphs. The game was basically a mixture of Event Horizon and Resident Evil 4, blending tense horror with gory combat. It was also given a big marketing push which included a feature-length anime prequel called Dead Space: Downfall.

A well-reviewed spinoff called Dead Space: Extraction followed in 2009, which was a rail shooter that also served as a prequel to the first title. Unfortunately, it did weak business but later received a PlayStation 3 port. Despite the solid sales of Dead Space EA were still pushing for greater numbers for its sequel and insisted Dead Space 2 be a more blockbuster affair. The game contained more action and creatures while still retaining its scares. It was also given a push with tie-ins like another anime called Dead Space: Aftermath, comics, and novels, but despite selling twice as much as Dead Space, the sequel still fell below EA’s expectations.

In a bid to make Dead Space 3 the biggest of the series, EA pushed for new features like a co-op campaign, microtransactions, and human enemies. The game was released in an era where horror titles were leaning more towards action and setpieces over suspense, such as Resident Evil 6. Sadly, Dead Space 3 proved to be the weakest of the series for this reason, with the blend of co-op action and horror being a mixture that never fully gels.

How Long Does It Take To Beat Dead Space 3?

At least Dead Space 3 gave fans a hefty campaign to play through as according to How Long To Beat, it should take roughly twelve to thirteen hours to finish it the first time around. The game once again sold under EA’s target numbers which effectively killed the series. There were initial plans for Dead Space 4 that would have seen players having to raid other Necromorph infested ships for supplies, but once that project was cancelled there’s been little sign of the franchise being revived.

Despite Dead Space 3 being disappointing to many fans, the series remains a classic entry in the survival horror genre. While there’s always hope Dead Space could be rebooted in some form, it may take a while for Isaac Clarke to don his iconic armor again.
