Plenty of memorable celebrities were chosen to compete in Peacock’s The Traitors, but it was former Below Deck chief stew Kate Chastain who stole the show. Kate, who starred as Captain Lee Rosbach’s right-hand woman on Below Deck seasons 2 through 7, made a splash on Bravo’s popular franchise as someone with a big personality, hard work ethic, and penchant for drama. Kate quit the series in 2020 but has remained one of the most memorable Below Deck stars since, with many viewers ready to welcome her back with open arms if the opportunity ever arose.
Although it’s been three years since Below Deck‘s Kate Chastain left the series, anyone who missed the temperamental chief stew was ecstatic when she was announced as a cast member of The Traitors. Hosted by Scottish actor Alan Cumming, Kate joined nine other celebrities like Big Brother winner Cody Calafiore, Brandi Glanville from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, along with ten ordinary Americans, for the competition series, which made waves across Europe in 2022. With 20 people to keep an eye on, it was easy for some cast members to fade into the background, but reality television veteran Kate easily made her mark from the first episode.
Kate Chastain Isn’t Afraid To Speak Her Mind
Viewers who are familiar with former Below Deck chief stew Kate are well aware that she has no problem stating her opinion, and when it came to her stint on The Traitors, Kate immediately found an enemy within Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly. Although Kate had soft spots for Brandi and Reza Farahan from Shahs of Sunset, she wasted no time and frequently accused Rachel and Christian de la Torre of being traitors. Kate and Rachel didn’t just argue about gameplay but resorted to unnecessary insults about personal aspects like each other’s clothes. There have been some seriously memorable feuds throughout the history of reality television, and while Kate and Rachel’s arguments weren’t as heavy as previous blowups documented on Below Deck and Big Brother, Kate’s refusal to get along with Rachel provided an extra layer of entertainment on The Traitors.
Kate Chastain Marches To The Beat Of Her Own Drum
The Faithfuls and Traitors had to work together in order to raise their potential cash prize on The Traitors, but while some celebrities like The Bachelor‘s Arie Luyendyk Jr. were all about teamwork, Kate’s stubbornness and individuality never wavered. Kate had an early ally in Brandi, but after Brandi was banished, Kate remained a free agent with some hilarious results. In one strenuous challenge which saw the contestants roll heavy barrels around, Kate refused to carry anything other than the smallest objects, which she later tossed aside to the astonishment of her co-stars. Although Kate’s antics didn’t fare well with the others, they were an instant hit with viewers.
While Kate failed to convince her competitors that she was a Faithful and left empty-handed, Kate provided the most entertainment on The Traitors by far. Despite her time away from reality television, Kate’s return was a huge success, although it’s hard to tell when she will be seen on TV again after Kate announced her pregnancy in December 2022. Some people aren’t exactly made for reality television or tough competitions like The Traitors, but when it comes to huge personalities like Kate, they can’t help but stand out from the crowd.
