How Below Deck Adventure Will Be Different From The Other Spin-offs

Bravo’s popular Below Deck franchise will introduce viewers to its newest spin-off, Below Deck Adventure, on November 1, and there are several elements that set the show apart from the others. Since the original Below Deck kicked off in 2013, viewers have followed dozens of crew members, such as fan favorite chief stew Aesha Scott, who work aboard their respective superyachts during peak charter season. Between catering to high-maintenance guests, dealing with on-board malfunctions, and engaging in both fights and “yachtmances,” the stars of Below Deck continue to attract viewers with their mix of professionalism and drama.

Although Below Deck season 9 was negatively received by fans, its spin-offs Below Deck Mediterranean, Below Deck Sailing Yacht, and Below Deck Down Under have all found success in their own ways. Many have particularly praised the first season of Below Deck Down Under, which debuted March 2022 on Peacock, for its crew and their exploration of the Great Barrier Reef. With the franchise’s overall popularity continuing to grow, Bravo teased fans with a first look at Below Deck Adventure in early September. Although Below Deck Adventure shares the general premise of the Below Deck franchise and will feature famous charter guests like Heather Gay from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, the spin-off differs from its predecessors.

Below Deck Adventure Will Explore The Fjords Of Norway

While the other Below Deck shows are primarily set on the warm coastal waters along Europe and the Caribbean, Below Deck Adventure will highlight Norway’s glacial territories. Although Below Deck Adventure was reportedly filmed last summer, Bravo’s first look shows the Mercury crew, led by Captain Kerry Titheradge, struggling to adjust to the temperature. “You fall in the water in the Bahamas, you just catch a tan,” chef Jess Condy explains. “Here you can get hypothermia and die.” Another scene shows the Below Deck cast dressed in full protective gear, while new Below Deck Adventure deckhand Nathan Morely muses, “What in the d*** world [is] a Caribbean man like me doing?”

Below Deck Adventure Will Feature Numerous Physical Activities

Unlike the other Below Deck spin-offs, Below Deck Adventure will show the cast and their charter guests partaking in plenty of outdoor activities off of Mercury, including rock climbing, parasailing, and horseback riding. In an interview with EW, Captain Kerry highlights how the Norwegian fjords provide the perfect backdrop for new physically demanding experiences that make Below Deck Adventure stand out. “The Caribbean, there’s a lot of beach parties and often people are enjoying [the] inside of the boat, ’cause it’s so d*** hot,” Captain Kerry says, while “In the Mediterranean, it’s all about pulling up at San Tropez and being seen.” The Below Deck Adventure cast will experience Norway’s beautiful scenery up close, with Captain Kerry, an experienced Australian native, remarking that the crew even “did a fashion show in the caves.”

The Below Deck Adventure Crew Will Face New Challenges

Short-lived romances and off-duty arguments are common occurrences throughout the Below Deck franchise, and Below Deck Adventure will be no exception. In addition to stew Oriana Schneps and bosun Lewis Lupton getting close and deckhand Kyle Dickard seemingly landing in trouble for his attitude, Captain Kerry and the cast will face unique challenges from being in Nordic waters, such as docking the Mercury. “It’s a world heritage area. They’re very strict on where you can anchor,” Captain Kerry tells EW, and hints that chef and certified nutrition coach Jess Condy will particularly struggle because, “[the locals] are not used to catering to our kind of requests.” Below Deck Adventure will be an exciting addition to the franchise.

Below Deck Adventure premieres November 1 at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo. Episodes will be available to stream on Peacock.
