Here’s how Beavis And Butt-Head season 8 episode 12 gave a fittingly non-epic finale to the iconic series. Writer/director Mike Judge held jobs programming test systems for fighter jets and endured a brief stint in Silicon Valley before switching careers. He made a series of short films, with his short Milton later forming the basis for his cult 1999 comedy Office Space. He’s also the co-creator of hit shows like King Of The Hill and Silicon Valley.
His animated short Frog Baseball is what really made his career and introduced the world to Beavis And Butt-Head. The show made its debut on MTV in 1993 and follows the title duo, who are two crude, lazy and hormonal teenagers. They show is split between their aimless adventures and the two watching MTV music videos and providing usually mean-spirited commentary. Judge voiced both characters and Beavis And Butt-Head soon became generational icons. They also received their own movie with 1996’s Beavis And Butt-Head Do America, which also featured the voices of Bruce Willis (Die Hard) and Demi Moore. The show originally came to an end with season 7, with the episode “Beavis And Butt-Head Are Dead” serving as a finale.
Beavis And Butt-Head were later revived in 2011 with season 8, but outside of commenting on more modern videos and TV shows like MTV’s Jersey Shore, the passage of time did little for their maturity. The new season also proved to be a solid performer in terms of ratings, though MTV opted not to renew once season 8 ended as according to Mike Judge it didn’t fit in with their target female demographic.
While there’s occasionally talk of a revival or maybe a new movie, for the time being, it appears season 8 is the end of the show. Beavis And Butt-Head season 8 episode 12 is split between two episodes, “Whorehouse” and “Going Down.” The plot of the former sees the two happening upon a protest at an abortion clinic and jumping to the conclusion it’s a brothel. Naturally, they try to go inside to “score,” only to be foiled by a security guard with a taser. In between, they add colorful commentary for Travis McCoy and Bruno Mars (Rio 2) song “Billionaire” and Jake Walden’s dour ballad “For Someone.”
The second half of Beavis And Butt-Head season 8 episode 12 is “Going Down,” where the clueless chums play with an elevator to hear the female announcer say “Going down.” They soon trap themselves in the elevator with a beautiful woman, who tires of their puerile antics and escapes through the roof hatch. Beavis and Butt-Head are then trapped for hours and consider resorting to cannibalism, but the doors open and another beautiful lady walks; the episode ends as they accidentally break the elevator again. As endings go for the hapless friends, it’s oddly perfect.
