Homelander Faces Thanos In The Boys & Marvel Crossover Fan Art

Homelander comes face to face with Thanos in an epic piece of crossover fan art between The Boys and Avengers: Endgame. Based on the comic books series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys puts a dystopian spin on the much-loved superhero genre, by presenting a world in which its heroes are the face of a corrupt corporation, known as Vought Industries. With The Boys season 3 now in full swing, audiences have watched as Homelander, one of the show’s lead supes played by Antony Starr, continues his twisted and tyrannical reign as things begin to fall apart around him.

The Boys recently saw the release of its long-awaited “Herogasm” episode, which was greatly anticipated as it was set to adapt a hilariously crude storyline from the comics. However, many were delighted when the episode finally saw Homelander come up against Soldier Boy, a character who had previously been described as a parody of the MCU’s Captain America. There have been a number of references to the MCU throughout The Boys, some more obvious than others, with one particular “girls get it done” sequence in season 2 having playfully poked fun at a scene in Avengers: Endgame‘s final battle.

Shared to Twitter by AGT Design, an epic piece of fan art imagines Homelander during the final battle of Avengers: Endgame. The awesome crossover shows Homelander as he stands before Thanos and his army, much like Captain America does before the film’s iconic portals scene which sees all of his fellow heroes return. The concept poster also features the logo from Marvel’s What If…? in a fun nod to the animated series which reimagines some of the MCU’s most memorable scenes. Check out the art below.

Following the dramatic conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War that saw a number of its heroes turned to dust due to Thanos’ devastating snap, Avengers: Endgame unsurprisingly became one of the most anticipated releases in the MCU’s history. The final battle saw Marvel’s catalog of heroes unite to take down the Mad Titan, and marked the end of more than 10 years of build-up as the MCU’s Phase 3 was brought to a satisfying close. This is not the first time that Starr has been linked to the Marvel universe by fans, as the actor recently took to Instagram to respond to another piece of art that had fan-cast him as the MCU’s Wolverine.

Despite his evil ways, Homelander has since established himself as somewhat of a fan-favorite character, largely due to Starr’s performance throughout the show thus far. In The Boys universe, Homelander is considered to be one of, if not the most powerful supe, so it would certainly be interesting to see how he would fare amongst a mighty villain such as Thanos. As it stands right now, Homelander certainly has his hands full as he now faces his new threat, Soldier Boy, although it’s certainly terrifying to imagine a universe where Homelander is the world’s only hope.
