A Dugbog Tongue can be hard to find in Hogwarts Legacy, as it remains the most elusive of the three ingredients needed to craft the Focus Potion within the Room of Requirement. This item must be used along with Lacewing Flies and Fluxweed Stem to create the desired potion, which gives you significantly decreased cooldowns on all their spells for a limited duration. Due to the high utility of a Focus Potion, you will want to collect as many Dugbog Tongues as possible, as the opportunity to collect them is fraught with danger.
You must first buy the Focus Potion recipe from J Pippin’s Potions, a shop located in Hogsmeade before you can make use of Dugbog Tongue. As the Focus Potion has such a positive benefit, reducing spell cooldowns, the recipe needed to unlock the item stands at an expensive 1,200 gold. You will need to scrounge about the open world for any secrets or sell their unused gear to accumulate enough gold to purchase the recipe. An easy way to quickly explore the wider wizarding world would be to upgrade a Broom, enabling you to zip around the map at your leisure.
Dugbog Tongue Ingredient Location In Hogwarts Legacy
The only way you can collect a Dugbog Tongue comes by fighting Dugbog enemies, usually located in swampy areas such as the South Sea Bog section of the map. While not necessarily an uncommon loot drop from these enemy types, it remains a slightly risky item for you to find, as the other two ingredients for the Focus Potion are either harvested in the world through bushes, bought from the aforementioned shop, or grown in Hogwarts Legacy‘s Room of Requirement. One of the rarer enemy types encountered throughout the main story, Dugbogs can challenge you if you are unprepared.
While the bushes surrounding the swamps where Dugbogs reside might yield a couple of Lacewing Flies. The enemies are more elusive, as they sometimes spring up to attack without warning. There are two types of Dugbogs, the Great Spined Dugbog, and the more common Cottongrass Dugbog, usually in groups to divide your attention in combat. Engaging these foes whenever possible gives you plenty of chances to get a Dugbog Tongue in Hogwarts Legacy, provided you can overcome the threat these overgrown toads induce.
