Hitman 3 Is Going From A Terrible Launch To An Incredible Deal

In spite of Hitman 3‘s troubled launch, which saw many of the game’s players frustrated by various issues, the game is now set to become an amazing package deal. With past games up for grabs and a promising new mode on the way, developer IO Interactive’s plans for the franchise will see Hitman 3 – soon to be known as Hitman: World of Assassination – become a veritable treasure trove of content.

Despite Hitman 3‘s seemingly bright future, some players may find it hard to forget the problems that plagued its initial release. The game’s Epic Games Store exclusivity, controversial even on its own merits, also led to significant troubles with transferring Hitman 2 levels on PC, meaning that, at the time of launch, players who had previously played the series on Steam would have to re-buy the content on Epic. And while the issue was later resolved (after being compounded by a crash of IOI’s account servers on launch day), Hitman 3 would face yet another disastrous launch on Steam a year later, garnering criticism over releasing at full price despite being a year old, as well as a poorly implemented VR mode.

As Hitman 3 heads into 2023, however, the game looks to be leaving its launch troubles behind as it becomes Hitman: World of Assassination and introduces a promising new mode in Hitman: Freelancer. Capitalizing on Hitman 3‘s record sales, the transition, set for January 26, will come as a free upgrade for all preexisting owners of the game, simplifying the game’s purchasing options down to two products – the base game, including Hitman 3 content alongside free access to Hitman 1 and 2, and deluxe pack including all of Hitman 3‘s DLC. Additionally, a new mode in Hitman: Freelancer has recently launched, letting players take greater control of their assassination.

While Hitman 3 has suffered from a few noteworthy issues, the upgrade to World of Assassination seems set to transform the game into the definitive package deal for anyone looking to play through the series. Some problems, such as a nonfunctional VR mode for Hitman 3, remain pressing issues for IOI to fix, however, and although World of Assassination isn’t likely to face issues during its launch, the game’s past track record may keep some players wary. Additionally, the game’s new Freelancer mode is a promising new take on the game, allowing players to choose their gear, locations, and targets.

As the rebooted Hitman series looks to leave its launch woes behind, World of Assassination provides an incredible value for new and old players alike, consolidating the series into a single, cohesive package. And with new content like Freelancer still being added to the game’s already impressive scope, IO Interactive is seemingly geared up to support the game for some time to come. Whatever the case, Hitman: World of Assassination will upgrade on January 26.
