Jerry Seinfeld jokes about working with Hugh Grant in Unfrosted: The Pop-Tart Story, calling him difficult. Co-written, directed, produced by, and starring Seinfeld, the upcoming comedy film follows the rivalry between the two cereal companies, Kellogg’s and Post, in early 1960s Michigan as they compete to create a breakfast party product that will revolutionize the breakfast market forever. Alongside Seinfeld, who plays the fictional Kellogg’s executive Bob Cabana, the Unfrosted: Pop-Tart Story cast also includes Grant as Tony the Tiger, the famous mascot for Frosted Flakes.
During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, just before the release of the first Unfrosted: Pop-Tart Story trailer, Seinfeld talked about casting Grant to play Tony the Tiger and working with him.
The comedian joked about the British actor being difficult to work with, calling him “a pain in the ass.” Read his full comments below:
I love him. He’s so funny. And we had lots of fights. He’s a pain in the ass to work with. He’s horrible. He tells you before you work with him, “You’re going to hate this.” And he’s so right. Yeah, he’s horrible.
Unfrosted Continues A Recent Career Trend For Hugh Grant
During the mid-to-late 1990s and 2000s, Grant established himself as an effortlessly charming and occasionally awkward leading man in romantic comedies with Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Two Weeks Notice, Love Actually, and Music and Lyrics. However, after establishing this on-screen persona and being commonly criticized as a one-trick pony, Grant began playing against type and transitioned into a more dramatic actor with six different characters in Cloud Atlas, Florence Foster Jenkins, and more recently, HBO’s The Undoing.

Considering its enormous ensemble cast – which also includes Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Peter Dinklage, Christian Slater, Bill Burr, Dan Levy, James Marsden, Bobby Moynihan, Tony Hale, Maria Bakalova, Dean Norris, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Jon Hamm – Grant’s role might not be much more than a mere cameo. However, if his recent career is any indication, it should be another gloriously goofy and scene-stealing performance from Grant.
