Herman & Lily Share Soda In New Rob Zombie’s Munsters Movie Image

Even Herman and Lily enjoy an ice-cold soda in a new The Munsters movie image. Plot details for the film are currently unknown, though it is expected to be a reboot of the 1960s sitcom of the same name. Created by Allan Burns and Chris Hayward, The Munsters revolved around the titular family of monsters as they move from Transylvania to a quiet American suburb and adjust to living an average American life.

Jeff Daniel Phillips is leading the cast of The Munsters movie as Herman, the family patriarch and formerly Frankenstein’s monster, Sheri Moon Zombie as vampire matriarch Lily, Daniel Roebuck as grandfather The Count, an elderly Dracula, Richard Brake, Sylvester McCoy, Jorge Garcia, Catherine Schell and Elvira actress Cassandra Peterson. Development on a new Munsters property has languished for nearly 60 years, including a TV reboot from Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller, with Rob Zombie’s movie being revealed in early 2021. Filming on The Munsters movie wrapped this past week and audiences are getting an exciting new look at the project.

As audiences eagerly await the film’s arrival later this year, Rob Zombie took to Instagram to share a new Munsters movie image. The photo sees Sheri Moon’s Lily and Jeff Daniel Phillips’ Herman enjoying a soda out of a skull in a gothic-inspired soda shop. Check out the colorful new image below:

Though the new Munsters movie image may not give much away regarding its story, it does offer further insight towards the visual style and tone Rob Zombie is bringing to his adaptation of the iconic sitcom. As teased in previous behind-the-scenes images from the film, the horror director is moving away from the black-and-white nature of the original Munsters series and delivering a more colorful palette to the monstrous family and their macabre hijinks. Though the shift towards an in-color presentation of The Munsters has left many fans divided over the faithfulness to the sitcom, the various images and previous teaser do point towards retaining the retro vibe of the original series.

In addition to a new look at the film, Zombie has also revealed a new The Munsters movie trailer is coming this week. While no release date has been set for the film, outside of a late 2022 release window, the confirmation of a new Munsters trailer coming this week potentially points towards a release date being announced, likely in time for the Halloween season. In the meantime, audiences can revisit the original Munsters series streaming on Peacock now.
