Hellboy NYCC Poster Reveals Professor Broom, Blood Queen, & More

A new Hellboy New York Comic Con poster reveals the first look at several supporting characters. Guillermo del Toro made two cult hits starring Hellboy in the early 2000s. They boasted an imaginative world and a great leading performance by Ron Perlman, but but del Toro never got to realize his grand vision for the trilogy finale due to Hellboy 1 & 2‘s modest financial performances. Instead, Hellboy creator Mike Magnola is rebooting the property with Stranger Things star David Harbour playing Big Red.

Fans got their first look at Harbour as Hellboy last year when production was just beginning. Lionsgate surrounded Harbour with a talented ensemble in the film, but we haven’t gotten an official look at them since they were cast. The movie’s supporting players weren’t even included in the first official Hellboy poster that dropped last week, ahead of the film’s panel at the ongoing New York Comic Con.

With Hellboy‘s NYCC panel set to take place tomorrow (Saturday, October 6, at the time of writing), a brand new poster/banner for the movie has been unveiled. While Harbour’s Hellboy (now with his horns shaven-down again) is once again featured front and center in the film’s latest artwork, he’s also joined here by several other characters. Indeed, the banner offers the first look at Professor Broom, the Blood Queen, Ben Daimio, and more in the movie. Those attending NYCC can pick up the poster at Dark Horse Comics’ booth #1636 tomorrow between 1:10-2:10 pm to try and get a copy signed.

Hellboy NYCC Poster Reveals Professor Broom, Blood Queen, & More

Since this is the third look at Harbor’s Hellboy, there’s nothing particularly new in regards to his character – other than the continued discussion over why he has shaven horns in some images but not in others. Right in the middle of the poster, though, is also the first look at the Blood Queen, played by Milla Jovovich. Jovovich previously teased the arrival of the evil witch by sharing early promotional art, but she looks much different here. The Blood Queen and Hellboy have battled before over the famous sword Excalibur in the Hellboy comics before, so that may just be the sword Hellboy is shown wielding here.

Other than the main villain, the banner also reveals Ian McShane’s Profressor Broom, who was played by John Hurt in the del Toro movies. There’s also Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio, a member of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, who is playing the part after Ed Skrein left due to a whitewashing controversy. The woman between the two is Sasha Lane as Alice Monaghan, a woman who Hellboy previously saved. With all of these supporting characters revealed, the poster also offers up teases of the various mythical and magical creatures who populate the world of Hellboy. With Hellboy‘s NYCC panel still to come, more details on the movie should arrive shortly.
