Heartstopper season 2 now has an official release date. The series, which premiered on Netflix in 2022, is based on the popular graphic novel series of the same name by Alice Oseman, who is also the creator of the series. The first season followed the blossoming romance between an out gay teen named Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and rugby lad Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) after they are seated together in class.

Today on their official Twitter account, Netflix shared a behind-the-scenes video of Heartstopper season 2, also announcing when the new episodes will premiere.
According to the post, Heartstopper season 2 will officially begin streaming on August 3. This announcement comes just two days after the anniversary of season 1’s premiere on April 22, a long wait that many fans of the series have vented their frustrations about online in the meantime.
Everything We Know About Heartstopper Season 2
While the new behind-the-scenes video isn’t keen to give anything away, there are a few details that can be gleaned there. First of all, Yasmin Finney teased that “there’s so many things” going on with her character Elle this season, which may be hinting at the fruition of her long-teased romance with Tao (William Gao). Although the pair had the perfect setup for a romantic moment in the Heartstopper season 1 finale, neither actually acted upon it.
Connor also teases that the new season will have more of a “cool and fresh” vibe, perhaps indicating that the lead characters are moving away from their initial tentative flirtation and into a more concrete relationship. On the other hand, Locke hints at “more of a journey” for Charlie this time around. If the series remains faithful to the source material, this may indicate that he will develop an eating disorder over the course of this season.
There are other details that have already been revealed about Heartstopper season 2 that aren’t mentioned in the video. This includes the introduction of Nick’s father, as played by Thibault de Montalember, and older brother, played by Jack Barton. With a larger cast and a new tone, season 2 seems to be expanding on the first in a major way.
