Hayak Joins Reynolds & Jackson In New The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard Poster

Actress Salma Hayek has debuted the first official poster for the sequel, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, set to hit theaters in August 2021. The comedy sequel was originally set to hit theaters in August 2020, but was delayed due to coronavirus concerns. The Hitman’s Bodyguard was released in theaters in the summer of 2017, where it became a surprise box office hit, pulling in $176 million worldwide against a modest budget of just $30 million. Naturally, a sequel was green-lit by Lionsgate, bringing back the original cast, including Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, and Hayek.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard focused on a bodyguard named Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds), who was tasked with protecting a new client, a hitman by the name of Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson). The two had to put aside their differences in order to work together so that Kincaid could testify at the International Criminal Court. The sequel is set to have Bryce involved in Kincaid’s affairs yet again, with his wife, Sonia Kincaid (Salma Hayek), involved again as well.

On her Instagram page, actress Salma Hayek has released the first official poster for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard. The poster shows the original film’s cast front and center, including Hayek, Reynolds, and Jackson. Hayek also expresses in her post that she can’t wait for fans to see the film, despite the fact she’s upset the film’s release was pushed back a year. Her full post is below.

The comedy sequel will not only see the return of the original film’s main cast, but will have new additions, including Frank Grillo, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hopper, Richard E. Grant and Antonio Banderas as the film’s main villain. Director Patrick Hughes has also returned to helm the sequel, with the script penned by original scribe Tom O’Connor, along with writers Brandon and Phillip Murphy. The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is now set to hit theaters on August 20th, 2021.
