Hawk & Dove Revealed in New Titans TV Show Image

A new image reveals the costumes for Hawk and Dove from DC’s upcoming Titans television show, based on the popular DC Comics series. First introduced in the pages of DC Comics in 1964, the Teen Titans were formed from the ranks of the many young sidekicks serving under DC Comics’ biggest superheroes. The team would achieve new prominence in the 1980s, when legendary creators Marv Wolfman and George Perez revived the team as The New Teen Titans, pairing original characters like Starfire, Raven, and Cyborg with members of the original team like Robin, Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl. The New Teen Titans quickly went on to become DC Comics’ most popular title, as well as a critical success.

Small wonder then, that with DC Comics dominating the small-screen – with series like Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl on The CW – that they would elect to take this legendary comic book and adapt it for live-action television as well. Hither comes Titans – a new series that will bring many of these beloved young heroes to life for the first time in a live-action production

Created by Steve Ditko and Steve Skeates in 1968, Hawk and Dove were crafted to reflect the emerging political divides in America in the wake of The Vietnam War. Two brothers – the temperamental and militant Hank Hall and the soft-spoken pacifist Don Hall – were empowered by the mystic Lords of Order and Chaos to combat evil. Following Don’s death during the Crisis on Infinite Earths, his powers were given to an equally peace-minded young woman named Dawn Granger, who became the second Dove.

The new Titans series will utilize this most recent version of Hawk and Dove. Hank Hall will be be played by Alan Ritchson, who previously played Aquaman on Smallville. Dawn Granger will be portrayed by Minka Kelly, who is perhaps best known for her appearances on Friday Night Lights and Almost Human. The two characters will be portrayed as boyfriend and girlfriend.

The Hawk and Dove costumes were designed by renowned costume designer Laura Jean Shannon, whose credits include the upcoming Black Lightning TV series, the Iron Man movies, and Disney’s The Jungle Book, among other works.
