Harry Styles Unlikely To Take On Another Film Anytime Soon

Singer and actor, Harry Styles, says that he is unlikely to take on another film role in the near future. Styles’ career as a musician took off after he appeared on The X Factor, which resulted in forming the band One Direction, consisting of himself, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik. The 2017 Christopher Nolan film, Dunkirk, marked Styles’ debut as an actor in a feature film.

Styles played the supporting role of Alex in Nolan’s World War II thriller, and since then has moved on to star as a lead in upcoming and highly anticipated films such as Olivia Wilde’s Don’t Worry Darling and Michael Grandage’s My Policeman. Styles also made an appearance at the end credit scene of Marvel’s Eternals as Eros, also sometimes referred to as Starfox, who is the brother of Thanos. Although Styles lately has taken on several acting roles, he is also still touring his latest album, Harry’s House on his 2022 Love On Tour across both the United States and international venues.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Styles now says that he doesn’t anticipate taking on another film role for some time. Although Styles isn’t completely ruling out any new roles that come his way, it seems like for the time being he is deciding to focus more heavily on his music career in the near future. Style notes that although he does think that he will want to act again at some point, that he sometimes finds parts of acting less fulfilling than making music. Full quotes from Styles can be read below:

“I don’t imagine I’d do a movie for a while.”

“I think there’ll be a time again when I’ll crave [acting]. But when you’re making music, something’s happening. It feels really creative, and it feeds stuff. A large part of acting is the doing nothing, waiting thing. Which if that’s the worst part, then it’s a pretty good job. But I don’t find that section of it to be that fulfilling. I like doing it in the moment, but I don’t think I’ll do it a lot.”

Harry Styles Unlikely To Take On Another Film Anytime Soon

For fans of his music, this likely comes as welcomed news, as it seems like Styles has no intention of putting his music career on hold. However, for those who have been wanting more screen time with Styles ever since he appeared in Dunkirk, they may have to wait longer to see him on screen again after his upcoming two films. Since Styles appeared at the end of Eternals, and the movie left off on a cliffhanger, he is expected to return as Eros/Starfox in Eternals 2, however it looks like that won’t happen for some time given that Eternals 2 is not included in part of Marvel’s Phase 5, nor is it confirmed that it will happen in Phase 6.

Given that Styles currently doesn’t have much desire for taking new acting roles, it seems even more unlikely that Eros/Starfox would appear in any other Marvel films or television series before Eternals 2 is made. Styles’ decision to focus more of his attention on his music career because it brings him more fulfillment at the present moment than acting, is an admirable choice, and hopefully also prevents future lackluster performances on screen that are more motivated by the financial reward of acting rather than the artistic gratification. Should either of the upcoming films starring Styles have a positive critical reception, it will have to be followed whether this will sway Styles to take on future roles sooner, or whether he will still hold to focusing more on his music. Viewers will have to see Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman for themselves to judge whether Styles’ performance in them makes it even more frustrating for fans of his acting who now know that he doesn’t intend to participate in another film anytime soon.
