Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets is the second installment in the famous Harry Potter franchise, and it follows Harry and his friends as they return to Hogwarts for more madness and mischief. This film sees the golden trio face even more foes, and they try to unearth secrets that have the whole school on edge.
Despite the troubles they face, there are some truly moving moments throughout, complete with heartwarming quotes that still resonate with fans today. Whether it be Dumbledore’s words of wisdom or Harry’s defiance in protecting Hagrid’s reputation, there were many touching lines said.
Harry And Ron Realize The Importance Of Hermione
“Wish You Were Here, Hermione. We Need You, More Than Ever.”
Throughout Harry Potter, Hermione saved Harry and Ron more than once through her quick thinking and remarkable intelligence. However, in The Chamber of Secrets, Hermione gets petrified by the Basilisk and is subsequently unable to help her friends.
Harry and Ron go to visit Hermione in the Hospital wing and Harry says this sweet sentiment as they both realize how much they need her, even if she may be annoying at times. While Harry and Ron eventually figure out what monster is lurking in the chamber thanks to Hermione’s research, this moment was lovely, as it was unusual for both boys to be so open about their need for Hermione and it is a touching milestone in the trio’s friendship.
Dumbledore Gives A Reminder

Dumbledore is renowned for giving great advice, however cryptically the words may be presented. Dumbledore says this line to Lucius Malfoy as he is being removed as Headmaster. However, he is aware that Harry is within earshot and that his words will mean something to him.
What makes the quote especially heartwarming is later on in the film, when Fawkes arrives at the last minute to save Harry when he is in imminent danger in the Chamber. Dumbledore’s words evidently ring true, and it is a great moment for Harry as he realizes that his trust in Dumbledore is not misplaced.
Ron Questions Their Situation
“Why Couldn’t It Be Follow The Butterflies?”
Ron’s naivety is simultaneously one of the best and worst things about his character, as he always manages to put the chaos that is the circumstances they always find themselves in into words. This line is no different, and is said to Harry as the two are about to embark into the forest following a trail of spiders.
Not only is his question funny, but it also evokes a heartfelt feeling from fans, as Ron goes ahead with his and Harry’s plan to clear Hagrid’s name despite his apparent fear of spiders. Ron’s words shine a light on the unfairness of the plans he always finds himself in the middle of, whilst still being humorous and truly wholesome.
Arthur Is Intrigued

Throughout Harry Potter, Arthur often expresses his wonder at Muggle artifacts, and his intrigue is a highlight of his character. This quote is one of the best though – of all the questions he could think to ask Harry about, his first thought is that of rubber ducks, and it’s funny and touching at the same time.
Dumbledore Gives Some Much Needed Advice

Dumbledore offers this quote to Harry at the end of the film, after Harry has defeated the Basilisk but is scared that there are many similarities between him and Tom Riddle. Always ready with some sincere advice, Dumbledore assures him that, although he and Riddle are alike in their abilities, Harry’s choices set him apart.
It’s a good piece of wisdom, but the words are also the emotional reminder that Harry was in need of. As always, Dumbledore puts Harry’s mind at ease with his gentle assurance, and it’s a quote that sticks with Harry throughout the film series.
Ron Welcomes Harry To The Burrow
“It’s Not Much But It’s Home.”
The Burrow is one of the coolest homes in Harry Potter, but due to a fair amount of mockery from people like Draco, Ron feels the need to defend his house to Harry upon his arrival. However, as Harry looks around in wonder, he replies to Ron: “I think it’s brilliant.”
This quote is touching for many reasons and it’s a lovely reminder of the importance of what makes a house a home. Ron, despite whatever people may say about his house or family, still appreciates that The Burrow is his home because his family is what makes it so. For Harry, who’s never felt comfortable at Privet Drive, he can see just how great it is to have a true family home. It’s a poignant line that holds a lot of meaning for both Ron and Harry.
Hagrid Shows His Appreciation
“I Just Want To Say… That It If It Wasn’t For You, Harry, You And Ron… And Hermione… Well, I Just Want To Say… Thanks.”
After returning to Hogwarts with his name thankfully cleared, Hagrid is overwhelmed with the students’ response to seeing him and has trouble putting into words how grateful he is. As awkward as ever, Hagrid says this line to Harry, Hermione, and Ron as he tries to come to terms with all that they’ve done for him.
It’s a sweet moment to see the trio finally reunited with Hagrid, and his words encompass all that he feels for them. The fact that he can’t quite characterize his feelings only makes the moment even more sincere, and they ended the film in a poignant way.
Harry Defends Hagrid’s Honor

Even when faced with the threat of Tom Riddle, Harry still finds the time to defend Hagrid’s honor. As Riddle goads Harry after revealing that he is in fact Voldemort, Harry doesn’t miss a beat in his defense of Hagrid, despite the danger he is in.
This line is a great indication of what Hagrid means to Harry and how Harry views him, no matter what he may have done in his past. Whilst a tense moment in the film, Harry’s words are a fierce but loving statement that shows how he’ll always stick up for his friends in any situation.
Dobby Is Free

One of the most magical moments from The Chamber of Secrets is seeing Dobby’s face as he realizes that Lucius has inadvertently given him a sock and freed him. Dobby is full of undisguised glee as the truth of the situation dawns on him and he all but whispers this line.
Fans can feel the vindication of the moment, as Dobby is finally freed from his awful master, all thanks to Harry’s ingenious meddling. Wholesome and very much emotional, this quote only gets better as the scene goes on and Dobby is able to defend Harry against Lucius as a free elf at last.
Harry Welcomes Hagrid Back
“There’s No Hogwarts Without You, Hagrid.”
This statement is one the most heartwarming things said in The Chamber of Secrets, for the happiness with which Harry says the words to Hagrid, and for the truth in them. After everything faced in the film, Hagrid finally returns to Hogwarts and is greeted by the trio, who are more than happy to see him.
Harry makes this admission to Hagrid, both happy that he’s okay and that he’s finally back at Hogwarts where he belongs. Considering all that Hagrid went through, it was the perfect way to welcome him back and one of the most touching quotes in the film.
