Harry Potter: 5 Ways Aries Are Typical Gryffindors (5 They Are Not)

Harry Potter: 5 Ways Aries Are Typical Gryffindors (5 They Are Not)

The Harry Potter franchise is filled with a variety of weird and wonderful characters. Nevertheless, as far as the main series goes, the bulk of the focus falls on characters coming out of one of the four famous Hogwarts Houses, that, of course, being Gryffindor. It is perhaps the most well-known house, and at the forefront of all content.

These same ideas can get applied to the twelve signs of the zodiac, in particular the first sign, Aries. Automatically the two pairs together well; there are a lot of typicalities shared between Gryffindor and Aries, but that does not mean there are no differences between the two.

Typical – Fire & Passion

Fittingly, the element of the Gryffindor House is fire. Similarly, the Aries sign has the element of fire. The pair are two peas in a pod in that regard.

Hand-in-hand with that fire is the passion that burns in both these groups. A Gryffindor typically has that something inside them that just exudes from them in almost everything they do, and that is something that an Aries will also naturally possess.

Not – Self-Righteousness

Despite being the center of attention and despite most prominent heroes coming from the house, Gryffindor is not all positive. The house has some less than desirable traits, including an often sense of self-righteousness.

They are a proud house, but that can go far and birth judgment towards those who are not as brave, courageous, and as passionate as them. An Aries typically does not care, they can get arrogant and are self-confident, but it does not tend to result in a judgment of those who are not exactly like them.

Typical – Confidence & Attention

As alluded to above, both Gryffindor and Aries share the significant quality of self-confidence; it allows them to be so outgoing and aids their passion and willingness to help others, as well as other traits yet to be discussed.

Often this confidence, alongside other typical traits, means that both Gryffindor and Aries like to put themselves at the center of it all. Aries craves being the center of attention for everybody around them, in the same way, Gryffindor often revels in the glory of being a hero, and getting the attention that comes with it.

Not – Over-Competitiveness

The Aries wants to do it all and be the unequivocal best at everything they do. They are relentless in their pursuit of being the best, being at the center of it all, and winning whatever they want to win.

Gryffindor is a competitive house, but far less than Aries. Gryffindor, for example, is not typically competitive like Ravenclaw in academics, but rather in Quidditch. While the competitiveness is still there, over-competitiveness is not typical.

Typical – Determination

What is typical of a Gryffindor, though, even if they are not over-competitive, is that they are determined all the way through whether it be in an adventure, or their pursuit of greatness, glory, or heroics.

The same can get said about Aries. Unsurprisingly alongside their immense passion, fire, and competitive nature, they are determined beyond belief, willing to run through any obstacle to reach their goal or whatever else for which they are aiming.

Not – Blunt Honesty

Typically, Aries values honesty more than most things, and a lot of the time will be blunt in their telling of the truth, both positively and negatively.

While this is not saying by any means that Gryffindor is a house of liars, honesty is not something that immediately jumps out as the most typical of Gryffindor traits, and, in fact, they may even muddle up the truth to protect friends.

Typical – Bravery

The quintessential quality of a Gryffindor is their bravery. It gets instantly examined by the Sorting Hat and plays a big role in whether or not a student gets sorted into the house like loyalty – just look at Hermione, a surface level Ravenclaw.

As is obvious by looking at the standard Aries description, Aries is also incredibly courageous and is willing to put their neck on the line in pretty much any situation. For both, this can result in recklessness and unnecessary heroics but is still a crucial trait of them.

Not – Animal Is A Ram, Not A Lion

In the same way that every house and every zodiac sign has their element, each of the sixteen has the animal that represents them – and Aries and Gryffindor are different in this regard.

While Gryffindor is understandably represented by the Lion, Aries’ animal is the Ram, which fits with the theme of using the head that the Aries has. The Lion is the animal of another fire sign, though, the Leo.

Typical – Leadership

One is the first sign in the zodiac; one is the most prominently featured house in the Harry Potter franchise; it is reasonably evident that both Aries and Gryffindor are natural-born leaders.

With a passion and charisma that draws people in and oozes off of them, both Aries and Gryffindor are able to take commanding positions in any situation and will be the first to jump in and fill that role.

Not – Creativity

With all the passion and energy itching to get released from an Aries, it means it is a very creative sign, with outlets needed for all the excess energy they possess.

This is not a typical Gryffindor quality. Ravenclaw is far more associated with creativity, with more typical eccentricities and intelligence. While Gryffindor is very much talented at various things, being massively creative is not at the forefront of their traits.
