Halo Infinite’s Campaign Co-Op First Look Revealed In New Video

A new video showcasing the highly anticipated Halo Infinite campaign co-op mode has been released by developer 343 Industries. The latest entry in the iconic sci-fi shooter saga launched back in 2021, but it lacked several modes that have become staples of the series. A Halo Infinite campaign co-op beta is currently being held until July 22, and the game’s creators have now given fans a brand-new detailed look at the cooperative mode.

Campaign co-op has been a reoccurring feature of the Halo series since its very first installment, making its absence in Halo Infinite very noticeable. The multiplayer mode lets a group of players progress through a Halo title’s single-player campaign together, either online or through split-screen play, creating an entirely new cosmic combat experience. Halo Infinite did not release with campaign co-op, however, with 343 Industries instead deciding to add the mode to the game as a post-launch update. Since this announcement 343 Industries has delayed Halo Infinite co-op several times, with the mode now intended for release in August.

A first look at Halo Infinite campaign co-op mode has been posted to YouTube by Halo. The hour-long playthrough sees campaign lead designer John Mulkey, community director Brian Jarrard, campaign lead engineer Isaac Bender and program manager Ron Brown team up to fight across Zeta Halo together. Halo Infinite co-op creates a custom world state based on each player’s single-player file, allowing progress to carry over between single-player and online gameplay. The cooperative Fireteam starts out on the earliest mission that hasn’t been completed by everyone in the squad, while anything beaten by every player remains complete. The hectic Halo Infinite campaign co-op gameplay can be watched below:

Other than campaign co-op, the Halo Infinite Forge mode is probably the sci-fi shooter’s most anticipated feature. Like co-op, the Forge map editor is a staple of the series that was sadly left out of Halo Infinite at launch. The mode lets players edit a map in order to create custom battlefields or even entirely original game modes. According to a series of leaks Halo Infinite’s Forge will be incredibly robust thanks to mechanics like weapon combination and interchangeable weather effects for maps. Forge is expected to arrive in Halo Infinite Season 3, though an exact release date has not been revealed.

Campaign co-op gameplay seems to be effectively implemented into Halo Infinite, based on 343 Industries’ gameplay video. The mode will maintain each player’s personal progress through the game, and features like friendly fire and enemy scaling will make co-op a wholly original experience. Campaign co-op is set to arrive in August, so fans should start putting together their own Spartan squad ahead of Halo Infinite’s next big update.

Halo Infinite is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
