Halloween TV Show Gets Major Development Update & Teases How Show Connects With Different Timelines

The in-development Halloween TV show has received a major update. The Halloween slasher franchise began in 1978 with the original John Carpenter classic of the same name and has since expanded to include 13 movies in total. While 2022’s Halloween Ends was purported to be the end of the years-long battle of wills between former babysitter Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her serial killer brother Michael Myers, in October 2023 it was announced that Trancas and Miramax were partnering on a Halloween television show with the potential to expand into a wider cinematic universe.

Deadline recently had the opportunity to speak with Miramax’s Head Of Worldwide Television Marc Helwig about the Halloween show. During their conversation, he said they are “on a fast track” and “hoping to lock down the creative team very soon.” He added that the show will be a “creative reset completely and going back to the original film,” potentially exploring characters from the original Carpenter movie who haven’t had much screen time in the modern era of the franchise. Read his full quote below:

We’re on a fast track, it’s a big priority for us. We’ve had lots of exciting conversations in recent months with a number of really talented people, and I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of what we’re going to be doing very soon. We’re hoping to lock down the creative team very soon… It’s a big world, so I don’t think that is an opportunity to go off the back of that. The foundation of it is the original film, the John Carpenter movie, the characters of that film, and perhaps a group of characters that we haven’t really focused on that much in recent film versions or even in a number of them. It’s a creative reset completely and going back to the original film, as opposed to spinning out of any of the more recent film adaptations.
