GTA: Vice City Headlines PS Now’s February Lineup

The February 2o22 lineup for PS Now is led by Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition, PlayStation just announced. This follows another pretty strong month for the streaming service, in which Mortal Kombat 11 headlined PS Now’s January offerings alongside Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age. Given recent rumors about Sony’s plans for the service, it remains to be seen how long the publisher will be able to maintain such momentum.

Late last year, a report from Bloomberg claimed Sony had begun working on a new subscription model set to merge PS Plus and PS Now into one entity. Internally known as Spartacus, the updated service will supposedly launch with three tiers in tow, the lowest of which includes all of PS Plus’ current stable of benefits. The second tier will provide users with access to a robust library of PS4 and PS5 experiences. And the third tier will allegedly bundle in PS Now-like streaming, game demos, and a selection of PS1, PS2, PSP, and PS3 titles. Sony has yet to address the rumors surrounding the Spartacus service, so it should come as no surprise that news related to the existing PlayStation services continues to roll out as usual.

A post on the official PlayStation Twitter account has unveiled four titles that will hit PlayStation Now on February 1. GTA: Vice City – The Definitive Edition counts as the most notable of new additions. According to the PlayStation Blog, puzzle game Death Squared, sandbox experience Little Big Workshop, and strategy game Through the Darkest Times round out the February lineup and will remain on PS Now for an indefinite period of time. However, GTA: Vice City will only be on PlayStation Now until May 2.

Despite the myriad issues plaguing GTA’s Definitive Edition, Vice City is no doubt a good get for the PlayStation service. Death Squared’s co-op mechanics means it should prove most exciting when played with friends. Little Big Workshop’s tabletop factory premise brings a different type of fun to the PS Now catalog, as well. Meanwhile, Through the Darkest of Times positions players as the leader of a resistance group in 1933 Berlin – the same year Hitler was named Chancellor of Germany.

GTA: Vice City – The Definitive Edition launched late last year to poor reception, due in large part to a litany of technical issues across all platforms. While Rockstar Games and developer Grove Street Games continue to work towards ironing out the kinks, some players have still managed to find joy in the collection’s shortcomings.
