Grover’s New Quest Directly Sets Up Percy Jackson Season 2’s Story

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ season 1 finale teased Grover’s next quest which actively sets up the storyline of season 2. In Percy Jackson season 1’s ending, the titular demigod managed to avoid a war between Zeus and Poseidon by returning the former’s Master Bolt. Due to the success of this quest, Annabeth found the courage to return to her family home while Grover was granted his Searcher’s license which means big things for the story of Percy Jackson season 2.

While Percy Jackson season 1 left several unanswered questions, it managed to wrap up the character arcs of each main character from the first book. Despite the characters of Luke, Zeus, and Clarisse having certain book changes in the Percy Jackson TV show which altered the events of The Lightning Thief, the story was mostly accurate to the source material. Furthermore, the show even better foreshadows what is to come than the first book does. One such example is Grover’s quest for Pan, the lost god of the wild, with Percy Jackson‘s season 1 finale setting up this endeavor.

At the end of Percy Jackson season 1, Grover showed off his Searcher’s license to Percy and Annabeth. This solidified Grover’s character arc, allowing him to follow in other Satyrs’ footsteps to continue the search for Pan. While no Satyr has ever returned from the dangerous quest, Grover remained steadfastly dedicated to finding the lost god of the Wild which will play a big role in the seemingly inevitable story of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2.

In the final scene between the trio in Percy Jackson‘s season 1 finale, Grover states that he believes most of the natural world has been searched for Pan. He then theorizes that the seas of Earth have not been explored as thoroughly, setting up his oceanic quest which serves as the basis of Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, the second book in the series. Grover goes missing searching the titular ocean for Pan, prompting Annabeth and Percy to set out in search of their friend, a quest that will undoubtedly be adapted in Percy Jackson season 2.

If Grover’s quest and its ramifications on Percy Jackson season 2 were not already exciting enough, the storyline sets up another major character’s introduction. In the second book of the series, Percy makes friends with a kid named Tyson at his new school who follows him to Camp Half-Blood after the two are attacked by giants. Once there, it is revealed that Tyson is actually a Cyclops.

In Greek mythology, some Cyclops’ were depicted as sons of Poseidon. Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters continued this, with Tyson being revealed as the half-brother to Percy. Tyson embarks on the quest with Percy and Annabeth to save Grover, likely meaning his inclusion in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 should the show be renewed for a continuation.
