Gross Invincible Season 2 Moment Confirms Ant-Man Couldn’t Kill Thanos From Inside

Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Invincible season 2, episode 5!

Invincible season 2 has just pulled off a parallel to one of Avengers: Endgame‘s biggest memes, with this gross moment confirming that Ant-Man couldn’t kill Thanos from the inside. Invincible is a series full of superhero parodies, with nearly every major Marvel and DC superhero having a homage or a parody in the Invincible franchise. Shrinking Rae is a member of the Guardians of the Globe who is able to shrink down to the size of an ant, with her powers clearly paralleling those of Ant-Man’s, and Invincible season 2, episode 5 further emphasizes the two characters’ connection.

Invincible season 2, part 2 is finally here, with Amazon Prime Video finally continuing the highly-anticipated continuation of the streaming service’s beloved animated superhero show. Invincible season 2, part 2 picks up right where Invincible season 2, part 1 ended, with Mark returning home from Thraxa in order to fight off the sequids alongside the strongest members of the Guardians of the Globe. Due to most of the Invincible franchise’s superheroes being off-world, some of the weaker heroes are left to hold down the fort, leading to a wild moment that highlights this Ant-Man meme’s biggest flaw.

Invincible Death Shows What Would’ve Happened If Ant-Man Entered Thanos

In the lead-up to Avengers: Endgame, one of the franchise’s most famous memes centered around an interesting way that Ant-Man could finally take down Thanos. According to the meme, it would be possible for Ant-Man to kill Thanos by simply shrinking down, entering him (with the anus often being posited as a location for entry), and then growing, exploding Thanos from the inside. Although this didn’t actually happen in the film, the logistics of this working have been highly discussed, and Invincible shows what would have actually happened if Ant-Man attempted this stunt.

Invincible Season 2 Is Still Missing A Major Superhero Team From The Comics (That’s Perfect For A Spinoff)

Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible has already introduced all kinds of superhero teams, but it is still missing one of the most important ones.

Invincible season 2, episode 5 sees a villain named Komodo Dragon attempt to eat Shrinking Rae while she is tiny, with her ending up inside him. Shrinking Rae then grows big in an attempt to explode Komodo Dragon from the inside, clearly drawing parallels to the Ant-Man and Thanos meme. However, this moment has a tragic ending, with the plan not working and Shrinking Rae dying, with the Invincible comics confirming that this death is permanent. This proves that Invincible believes that the Ant-Man plan wouldn’t work, with it leading to Thanos killing Scott Lang.

How Shrinking Rae Actually Dies In Invincible Season 2, Episode 5

Shrinking Rae’s death in Invincible season 2, episode 5 is pretty horrifying, and here is a full breakdown of the hero’s demise. Firstly, Komodo Dragon puts Shrinking Rae in his mouth and chews her, with this definitely damaging the superhero. However, Rae believes that she can still get out of the situation by growing, something that Rex Splode agrees with. Instead of Komodo Dragon getting one of Invincible‘s most brutal deaths, Shrinking Rae is the one who ends up dying.

While in Komodo Dragon’s throat, Shrinking Rae attempts to grow big. However, Komodo Dragon’s impenetrable skin prevents her from breaking out, leading to her body seemingly being contorted while still trapped in Komodo Dragon’s body. Shrinking Rae’s gasps are heard while she is dying, with Komodo Dragon flexing and silencing her. It seems that Rae was crushed to death inside of Komodo Dragon, with her plan to break out of the villain sadly not working.

The MCU Already Predicted Invincible’s Shrinking Rae Death

As it turns out, the MCU already predicted Shrinking Rae’s death in Invincible, with the franchise explaining that it wouldn’t work long before it happened in the Amazon Prime Video show. The Avengers: Quantum Encounter attraction is part of the Disney Wish cruise ship, with a video featuring Paul Rudd in character as Scott Lang. In it, Ant-Man explains that he couldn’t kill Thanos by entering him, with him saying that it is more complicated than that before he is cut off by Hope van Dyne.

Having Ant-Man respond to these Thanos butt theories may seem like a gag, but Scott’s reason for not wanting to do it is proven right by Invincible‘s Shrinking Rae death. Much like Komodo Dragon, Thanos is much stronger than the average human, with his tough skin potentially preventing Ant-Man’s plan from working. It would have been tragic for Avengers: Endgame to feature Scott Lang’s death in the same fashion as Invincible season 2, which is why fans of the MCU should be glad that Ant-Man didn’t attempt this stunt.
