Grogu’s 9 Force Powers In Star Wars So Far

Grogu’s 9 Force Powers In Star Wars So Far

Warning! SPOILERS for The Mandalorian, season 3 finale.Despite still being young for his species, Grogu has shown an enormous range of Force powers throughout The Mandalorian. And ever since he showed his first Force ability in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 2, Grogu has only grown more and more proficient with his abilities in the Force. At first, using the Force for too long tended to tire Grogu out, making it a costly tool in his arsenal. But now Grogu can use several Force powers without becoming exhausted. And with the sheer amount of skill he’s displayed, it’s not out of the question to say Grogu has the potential to be as powerful as Yoda.

Of all the Force powers in Star Wars, Grogu has clearly displayed at least nine different abilities, some of which are rare or even unique. Because of his initial training at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant years before The Mandalorian, Grogu was proficient with Force abilities from the first moment Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin met him. And despite his deceivingly adorable appearance that won Din Djarin and the audience over, Grogu’s Force powers have turned him into a fearsome foe to be reckoned with.

9 Force Levitate

In The Mandalorian season 1, episode 2, Grogu displays one of the most basic Force powers for the first time. When Din Djarin fought the Mudhorn on Arvala-7, Grogu uses a derivative of telekinesis known as Force levitate in order to save the Mandalorian from getting crushed. Grogu has become even more adept at using Force levitation since then. He’s used it to sneakily steal some tasty blue macaroons from a child on Nevarro in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 4, and he even helped the Dutchess score a Quardo-blast in her game on Plazir-15. And of course, he also loves levitating his favorite snack: Sorgan frogs.

8 Force Choke

Grogu Force Choke

Like Force levitate, Force choke was a telekinetic Force power that allowed Grogu to choke his enemies. Since Force choke is strongly linked to the dark side, Grogu has rarely used this ability. In The Mandalorian season 1, episode 7, Grogu almost killed Cara Dune for arm-wrestling Din Djarin. Grogu believed her to be harming his friend, and slipped up by using a dark side power. Grogu also used Force choke again in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 6 against Moff Gideon’s stormtroopers. In his rage from being separated from Din Djarin, Grogu lost control, which is partly the reason Ahsoka Tano refused to train Grogu.

7 Force Heal

Force heal is a much rarer Force power in the Star Wars galaxy. Grogu almost displayed Force heal in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 2 to help an injured Din Djarin, but the bounty hunter stopped him. But in The Mandalorian season 1, episode 7 when Greef Karga was scratched by a venomous reptavian on Nevarro, Grogu stepped up to use Force heal on him, saving Karga from an early death. The ability to Force heal actually originated from Cade Skywalker in Star Wars Legends, though Rey also used Force heal in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

6 Force Push & Force Pull

Grogu uses the Force to save Din from the Mudhorn in The Mandalorian

Easily Grogu’s most used Force power is one of the simplest telekinetic Force tricks a Jedi has: pushing and pulling objects with the Force. Grogu first displayed this ability in The Mandalorian season 1 finale where he pushed a flametrooper’s flames back at him. Since then, Grogu has become far more efficient at pushing and pulling with the Force. He quickly learned to pull his favorite silver ball to him when training with Din Djarin and Ahsoka in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5. More recently, Grogu used Force push to shove Moff Gideon’s weapon off of a platform in The Mandalorian season 3 finale, securing Din Djarin and Bo-Katan’s victory.

5 Force Barrier

Force barrier may be one of Grogu’s most powerful Force abilities, and it’s one that continues to wipe him out whenever he uses it. Force barrier allows Grogu to create a sort of shield that blocks deadly elements. Grogu first displayed this Force power in The Mandalorian season 1 finale when he created a one-sided shield to save Din Djarin from a flametrooper. But Grogu also used Force barrier again in The Mandalorian season 3 finale to create an entire shield around him, Din Djarin, and Bo-Katan. On both occasions, Grogu’s use of this ability left him staggered.

4 Force Awareness

Force awareness is one of the most basic Force powers that almost every Force-sensitive being has access to. Unless someone severed themselves from the Force, they were constantly aware of everything around them. While Grogu constantly practiced Force-awareness from the beginning, he first displayed it on-screen by communicating with Ahsoka through the Force in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 5. Ahsoka was able to “translate” Grogu’s thoughts and feelings by being aware of them through the Force. This ability also helped him commune with Luke during his Jedi training in The Book of Boba Fett.

3 Force Meditation

Force meditation is a similar ability to Force awareness, though it affords Grogu an even deeper connection to the Force and other Force-sensitives. Grogu used this Force power in The Mandalorian season 2, episode 6 in order to reach out in the Force while atop a seeing stone at an ancient temple on Tython. While meditating, Grogu inadvertently made another Force barrier which repelled Din Djarin away from him. Later, during Grogu’s training with Luke in The Book of Boba Fett, Luke continued to train Grogu in the art of meditation.

2 Force-Enhanced Athleticism

One of the most important Force powers Grogu learned from Luke in The Book of Boba Fett season 1, episode 6 was the ability to increase his mobility through the Force. Given the small stature of Grogu’s species, being able to Force jump is one of Grogu’s favorite abilities. He can be seen jumping into the arms of Peli Motto in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 1, and also jumped straight over Rangnar’s head in their duel in The Mandalorian season 3, episode 4. Furthermore, his Force-enhanced athleticism helped save his life in The Mandalorian season 3 finale as he practically ran laps around Moff Gideon’s Praetorian Guards.

1 Bonding With Animals

Grogu puts a rancor to sleep in The Book of Boba Fett

Another one of Grogu’s more unique Force powers is the ability to bond with animals through the Force, and this may be something Grogu developed on his own. In The Mandalorian season 1, Grogu noticeably does not bond with the Mudhorn. But in The Book of Boba Fett finale, Grogu is able to bond with Boba Fett’s rancor. Through his bond, he calms and befriends the fearsome beast, which is similar to a Force power Ahsoka revealed in Tales of the Jedi. Grogu also briefly sensed the Mythosaur in The Mandalorian season 3 finale, and this ability could prove crucial for taming the Mythosaur in The Mandalorian season 4 or even beyond.
