Grant Gustin Perfectly Recreates The Flash Next To Oliver Queen’s Grave Meme In New Photo

The Flash star Grant Gustin is adding more popularity to his Oliver Queen grave meme as the DC star recreates it in a new Arrowverse photo with fans. The Arrowverse has become popular for numerous things, from including some of DC’s most iconic heroes and villains to becoming one of the most successful TV franchises of all time. But the Arrowverse has also made its root in pop culture outside the television screen through memes, with one particular image having gone viral and becoming one of the most used memes in Internet history.

During the Arrow series finale, The Flash’s Gustin shared an image of him posing with Oliver’s tombstone as the Arrowverse bid farewell to the Green Arrow. Almost half a decade later, Gustin has now recreated the unforgettable moment as Gary Lizaso posted a photo of them together at the FanX convention where he was cosplaying as Oliver’s tombstone with The CW star next to him.

The Arrowverse fan thanked The Flash star for bringing this meme to life once again, calling Gustin a winner for making this happen. Ironically, the person who has had the most issues with this photo is Green Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, who in 2021 told the Internet that “everyone who repurposes this photo kindly f–k off.”

Will The Arrowverse Ever Return?

As the ending of The Flash season 9 finished Gustin’s tenure earlier this year, it also marked the proper end for the Arrowverse, with Superman & Lois, the lone remaining DC TV show on The CW, only loosely connected to the franchise. While the Arrowverse may be done on The CW, it begs the question if Greg Berlanti’s beloved DC TV franchise could come back in the future. Despite the fact that a new DC Universe is on its way from DC Studios, Elseworlds properties will still be possible during James Gunn and Peter Safran’s regime.

It wouldn’t be shocking if, down the line, the Arrowverse made a limited but prominent comeback, especially if Warner Bros. Discovery can find ways to profit from it. Since Max will still be a destination for future DC content, having an Arrowverse limited event series would be more than possible, bringing the actors back together as the Arrowverse Justice League of the small screen. There is also the option to continue the Arrowverse through comics, similar to how Smallville season 11 served as a companion series to the show after its end in 2011.

If the Arrowverse were to return during the DC Universe’s era, it would be fun to also see them incorporated through the multiverse, a concept that the DC TV franchise is more than familiar with, as they did their own Crisis on Infinite Earths adaptation in 2019. The multiverse may be something that the DC Universe doesn’t use in the foreseeable future, but if they ever revisit that storytelling, the Arrowverse would make more than sense to include in some capacity. For now, the world can continue to relive the entire Arrowverse through streaming and on Blu-Ray/DVD.
