Gotham Knights TV Show BTS Image Shows Batman’s Death Prep

A behind-the-scenes image from the Gotham Knights TV show reveals Bruce Wayne actor David Alexander Miller in his Batman death makeup. As with previous years, The CW is expanding its DC TV line-up once again. Despite having canceled multiple shows this year, including Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow, The CW will be launching Gotham Knights mid-season in 2023. Coming from Batwoman writers/producers Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams, Gotham Knights will not be tied to the upcoming video game of the same name, and is not considered an Arrowverse spinoff.

Gotham Knights will focus on Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan), Bruce Wayne’s adoptive son, along with several children of Batman’s villains. After the Caped Crusader is murdered, the younger generation are framed for Bruce’s death. As a result, Gotham Knights season 1 will follow Turner and the others as they try to get their names cleared. Throughout this journey, however, they will become Gotham City’s next generation of protectors. With Batman’s murder being the kick-off point for the series, the Gotham Knights trailer revealed Harvey Dent (Misha Collins) discovering Batman’s body and informing his son of his secret identity.

Bruce Wayne actor Miller shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his Batman role on Instagram. In the image, the actor is seen with blood smeared across his face. The character’s iconic Batcowl is shown in the foreground, damaged in a way that matches his injuries and death scene in the Gotham Knights trailer. Check it out below:

Miller will be the second actor to portray Batman on a The CW series, following Warren Christie appearing on Batwoman as the Arrowverse’s official version of Bruce. While the real Bruce has been MIA, Christie played Thomas Elliot/Hush, wearing the billionaire’s face before he was stopped by Ryan Wilder. In the Gotham Knights trailer, Miller’s Bruce is seen briefly in a portrait before his dead body was found by Harvey Dent, but this new behind-the-scenes sneak peek is so far the best look that viewers have been given of the actor in character.

Despite Batman being dead in the Gotham Knights universe, this clearly won’t stop Miller’s Bruce from appearing through flashbacks. One of the key aspects Gotham Knights will need to explore is Bruce’s dynamic with Turner prior to his death. With Turner being an original character who was adopted by the Dark Knight, it will be important to develop their bond as father and son, despite the hero’s death. Whether it be in Gotham Knights season 1 or beyond, Batman’s real murderer will likely be revealed. For now, however, how the DC TV show will use Miller as Gotham Knights’ Batman after this death sequence remains to be seen.
