“Got To See Carl”: Predator’s Dillon & Blain Actors Reunite 36 Years Later In Friendly Photo

Predator stars Carl Weathers and Jesse Ventura reunite in a friendly photo, 36 years after the release of the movie. Directed by John McTiernan, the 1987 film sees Arnold Schwarzenegger take on the role of Dutch, the leader of an elite squad of commandos who encounter a deadly warrior while on a mission in the Central American Jungle. The Predator cast includes Weathers as Dillion and Ventura as Blain, with Bill Duke appearing as Mac, Sonny Landham as Billy, Richard Chaves as Poncho, and Shane Black as Hawkins.

Predator remains an action classic, and Ventura now takes to Facebook to share a mini cast reunion he had with Weathers while at Mad Monster Atlanta 2023. Check out the image below:

Although it’s now been well over three decades, the movie and its characters remain beloved to this day, and it’s clear that Weather and Ventura are still friendly even after so many years.

Is The Original Predator Still The Best One?

For a long time, the original Predator was considered the high point of the franchise. The 1990s sequel starring Danny Glover doesn’t quite reach the same level of quality, despite some interesting lore expansions and a new setting. The same can be said for 2010’s Predators, which takes the franchise to an alien planet for the first time. 2018’s The Predator was a disappointment, as were the two crossover Alien vs. Predator movies.

Last year, however, Hulu released director Dan Trachtenberg’s Prey. The movie, which is set three hundred years ago, stars Amber Midthunder as Naru, a Comanche warrior who encounters the first Predator to ever land on Earth. The film was a hit with both audiences and critics alike, with praise levied at Midthunder’s performance, the new setting, action, and Trachtenberg’s direction. The movie brought a level of freshness to a franchise that felt like it may have been on its last legs, and it’s at least in the conversation when it comes to the best entry in the franchise.

The film was so strong, in fact, that Ventura would even share a kind message on social media after its release, calling it a “thoughtful, creative, and wonderful film,” and praising Midthunder’s powerful performance. Trachtenberg seems optimistic it will get a sequel and, if Prey 2 happens and Midthunder’s Naru returns, it would mark the first movie in the franchise to get a direct follow-up. Despite Prey‘s high quality, the original Predator, for many, remains an unassailable classic, and that’s clearly why actors like Ventura and Weathers remain a draw at fan conventions so many years later.
