Google has unveiled the top trending TV shows of 2023 in the U.S. The list, which reveals shows that enjoyed “a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2023 as compared to 2022” instead of the top searches in pure numeric terms, includes:

As A Measure Of Popularity, Google’s 2023 TV Data Has Some Surprises
It’s not a shock that Wednesday makes an appearance on the list. The Netflix hit debuted towards the end of 2022, somewhat gradually building its audience and ultimately going on to become a massive success for the streamer. It remained on the streaming charts long after its debut, possibly getting a boost thanks to the interest in Wednesday season 2. And although it may not be as buzzy as some other originals, Ginny & Georgia is another huge title for Netflix, as was the Bridgerton prequel Queen Charlotte.
But there are less-obvious inclusions as well. The presence of Kaleidoscope, a Netflix original that invites subscribers to watch episodes in whichever order they like, has a much smaller footprint, but makes perfect sense for a Google search list. It’s easy to imagine viewers wondering about the correct order or, alternatively, whether the order impacts the episodes in a major way, and searching online for more info.

There are and will be other television show rankings that measure quality and overall impact, and many will include those more culturally prominent titles.
