<

Good Omens season 3 season is being developed for Amazon Prime Video by Neil Gaiman and will continue Aziraphale and Crowley’s story with ideas for a sequel to the best-selling original novel devised with legendary co-author, the late Terry Pratchett. Good Omens is an Amazon Prime Video series based on the novel by Gaiman and Pratchett and follows the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) who’ve developed a unique relationship over the centuries they’ve spent on Earth, one that sees them put their differences aside to set out to stop the end of the world.

The first season of Good Omens was based on the novel, and it was speculated that season 2 could be based on a sequel that Gaiman and Pratchett had planned out before the latter’s death. However, Gaiman has since said that the planned sequel was not the second season, and it instead would be used for Good Omens season 3. This has only added to the already intense speculation about the show’s return to Amazon Prime Video after the second season cliffhanger, and there’s already much to discuss when it comes to Good Omens season 3.

Good Omens Season 3 Cast

Jon Hamm as Gabriel in Good Omens season 2

The Good Omens season 3 cast will likely be comprised of mostly returning faces. Michael Sheen (Underworld, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones) as the demon Crowley will of course return. There are other angels, demons, and humans that could possibly be back in Good Omens season 3, and even some that might show up in different roles.

Good Omens season 2 brought back Jon Hamm (Mad Men, The Morning Show) as Gabriel and made him a massive part of the story, as it is his disappearance threatened a war between Heaven and Hell. Also appearing in season 2, and a possibility for the Good Omens season 3 cast are:

  • Doon Mackichan (Toast of London, Smack the Pony) as Michael
  • Gloria Obianyo (Dune, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning – Part One) as Uriel
  • Miranda Richardson (Blackadder, Sleepy Hollow) as Shax
  • Liz Carr (The Witcher, Silent Witness) as Saraqael
  • Quelin Sepulveda (Havoc, The Man Who Fell To Earth) as Murie
  • Shelley Conn (Mistresses, Love Sarah) as Beelzebub

Adria Arjona (Morbius), Jack Whitehall (Bad Education), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul), and Sam Taylor Buck (The Death & Life of John F. Donovan) did not return for the cast in season 2. Still, Gaiman made an interesting comment about past actors. “With anybody that I wanted to bring back, but didn’t have room for right now, I did not have to bring them back as themselves,” Gaiman said (via SFX), meaning anyone could return for the Good Omens season 3 cast, even in a new role.

Good Omens Season 3 Story Details

Michael Sheen and David Tennant as the angel and demon in Good Omens

The Good Omens season 3 story was set up during the last final minutes of the second season. It was a moment that turned the entire series on its head and morphed Good Omens from mostly lighthearted fun to a drama that broke viewers’ hearts. Most of the second season saw Crowley and Aziraphale helping Gabriel, who it turned out came to Earth to find Beelzebub, someone he secretly loved. However, this story really showed what Good Omens is really about. This is a show about the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley finally admitting their love for each other.

What wasn’t expected was that Crowley would be the only one to realize this. The Good Omens season 2 ending saw Crowley finally realize he was in love with Aziraphale — something that will be of huge importance to the season 3 plot. He went to reveal his love and ask the angel to leave with him, putting the mess of Heaven and Hell behind them. However, Aziraphale had already accepted a new job back in Heaven, and he could get Crowley his status as an angel back.

This was not what Crowley wanted to hear. For centuries, the angel and demon had fallen in love as best friends because of who they really were, and here was Aziraphale deciding for both of them that he could change Crowley. The Good Omens season 3 story will likely be a love story between Crowley and Aziraphale, and focus on the duo realizing they are not complete without each other. What good is being in Heaven if Crowley is still on Earth? That final kiss and their separation, as well as a mention of ‘the Second Coming’ sets up the sequel Gaiman teased for Good Omens season 3.
