Good Omens season 3 has been given the green light by Amazon Prime Video, and there are several exciting updates about the final set of episodes. Good Omens is based on the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and follows the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) who’ve developed a unique relationship over the centuries they’ve spent on Earth, one that sees them put their differences aside to set out to stop the end of the world.

The first season of Good Omens was based on the novel, and it was speculated that season 2 could be based on a sequel that Gaiman and Pratchett had planned out before the latter’s death. However, Gaiman has since said that the planned sequel was not the second season, and it instead would be used for Good Omens season 3. After months of speculation, the latest news regarding the popular series is Good Omens season 3 has officially been confirmed. Along with the long-awaited confirmation, Neil Gaiman has also offered a tease about the potential plot for the final season, and it seems as if Armageddon will once again be the center of the story. According to Gaiman, only Aziraphale and Crowley can stop the end of the world, but the unlikely duo is locked in a bitter feud that could endanger the whole of existence.

In December 2023, Amazon Prime Video officially confirmed Good Omens season 3 was on the way. The third season is also expected to be the final one, which fulfills the original plan of a trilogy envisioned by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

The Returning Faces Of Good Omens Season 3

The Good Omens season 3 cast will likely be comprised of mostly returning faces. Michael Sheen (Underworld, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant (Doctor Who, Jessica Jones) as the demon Crowley will of course return. Good Omens season 2 brought back Jon Hamm (Mad Men, The Morning Show) as Gabriel and made him a massive part of the story, as his disappearance threatened a war between Heaven and Hell. Also appearing in season 2, and a possibility for the Good Omens season 3 cast are:

Maggie Service (Red Dwarf) and Nina Sosanya (Screw) returned for season 2 but as entirely different characters. Gaiman made an interesting comment about past actors. “With anybody that I wanted to bring back, but didn’t have room for right now, I did not have to bring them back as themselves,” Gaiman said (via SFX), meaning anyone could return for the Good Omens season 3 cast, even in a new role.

The Good Omens season 3 story was set up during the last minutes of the second season. It was a moment that turned the entire series on its head and morphed Good Omens from mostly lighthearted fun to a drama that broke viewers’ hearts. Most of the second season saw Crowley and Aziraphale helping Gabriel, who it turned out came to Earth to find Beelzebub, someone he secretly loved. However, this story really showed what Good Omens is really about. This is a show about the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley finally admitting their love for each other.

Neil Gaiman did tease the overall plot of Good Omens season 3, and the end of the world is once again on the horizon. With Aziraphale and Crowley seemingly at odds, the unearthly power couple is tasked with saving the world even if they can’t seem to get along.
