Goku Brawls With Master Roshi’s Best Alias In New Dragon Ball Fanart

Master Roshi is a staple Dragon Ball character that’s been around from the beginning to help mentor and guide Goku and pals through thick and thin, and in a new piece of fanart set during the original Dragon Ball series, the Turtle Hermit’s best alias — the martial arts master called Jackie Chun — does battle with Goku in a highly stylized way!

Recently posted on Instagram by username @jasonkangart, Jason is a concept artist and illustrator specializing in making original artwork and fanart that consistently impresses. Drawing characters from the worlds of Dragon Ball, Marvel Comics, One Punch Man, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, and more, Jason’s painterly style mixes well with his more realistic images, solidifying him as a content creator worth following.

The super skilled, super pervy teacher of Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, and many more Z-Fighters across the years, Master Roshi is responsible for adding the iconic Kamehameha Wave attack to Goku’s fighting repertoire as well as countless other offensive and defensive techniques. Eventually wanting to test his pupils at the World Tournament without them holding back, Master Roshi dons a new set of clothes, removes his glasses, puts on a toupee, and enters the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai under the Jackie Chan-inspired alias of Jackie Chun! And it’s here, during the final battle between a young Goku and Jackie Chun, where Jason focuses his latest fanart efforts to stunning results.

Goku and Jackie Chun Go At It In New Fanart!

Showing Goku before he transforms into his destructive Great Ape form seen during the latter half of the match and depicting Master Roshi fully clad in Jackie Chun attire, Jason draws these two powerful Z-Fighters flying through the air with their legs outstretched, both aiming a kick at one other with punishing intent. Illustrated in a more realistic yet still sketchy way that only adds to the kinetic feel of this scene, Jason succeeds in bringing the ferocity of the fight to the forefront while reminding fans exactly where Goku’s journey to becoming the strongest fighter around started.

So while Master Roshi’s Jackie Chun alias and the lessons taught while wearing his disguise might have been retired long ago, he continues to be the guiding hand in Goku’s life whenever this iconic Saiyan needs it. Master Roshi doesn’t get a chance to show off his skills as often as he used to, but with Jason Kang (@jasonkangart) on the case, his and Goku’s epic tournament brawl is recreated in the best way possible!
