Gohan Passed His Worst Form Down to Dragon Ball’s Next Generation

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Super chapter 88While Gohan has recently achieved a new powerful transformation the likes of Dragon Ball fans have never seen, there was one form from his past that was a bit less impressive, to say the least–and Gohan just passed it down to the next generation of Saiyan fighters.

Gohan made his debut upon the start of Dragon Ball Z, and while he came across as an incessant crybaby at first (though to be fair, he was only four), it quickly became known that Gohan was not to be messed with. When Gohan was kidnaped by his uncle, Raditz, he easily broke free of Raditz’s ship where he was being held captive and delivered a debilitating attack against his uncle that helped ensure Goku and Piccolo’s victory. Skip ahead a few years and Gohan trained hard enough to become the first Saiyan in known history to achieve Super Saiyan 2, a power he used to obliterate Cell. Then finally, in the most recent film in the franchise, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, Gohan broke all-known barriers of power and unleashed the insanely strong transformation: Beast Gohan. In short, Gohan is crazy powerful and has unlocked forms that have paved the way for the Saiyan Z-Fighters since he was a child, which is why the fact that he’s passing down his most embarrassing one is a total travesty.

In Dragon Ball Super chapter 88 by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, fans are being shown the events that led up to the events of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero as told from the perspective of Trunks and Goten–who are now high school-age teenagers. At this point in the series, Goten and Trunks are no strangers to combat, as the two of them faced-off against Majin Buu before the age of ten and even challenged the God of Destruction, Lord Beerus, only a few months after that. So, with their experience fighting evil, the two decided to become superheroes–and their names were Saiyaman X-1 and Saiyaman X-2.

Goten and Trunks Became Gohan’s Saiyaman Successors

Gohan Passed His Worst Form Down to Dragon Ball’s Next Generation

Right before the start of Dragon Ball Z’s Majin Buu Saga, when Gohan was just a high school teenager himself, the half-Saiyan fighter had the same idea Trunks and Goten would later have and became a superhero. In order to keep his identity a secret, Gohan created the alter-ego: the Great Saiyaman. While on the surface that sounds cool, it turned lame really fast. The once terrifyingly powerful Gohan became a costumed vigilante complete with corny catchphrases and cringey poses. Thankfully, Gohan’s stint as the Great Saiyaman was relatively short-lived–though it will exist forever in infamy as Gohan’s worst Dragon Ball form.

Overall, the Great Saiyaman was not well received, and it even became a parody of itself in Dragon Ball Super when Future Trunks could barely hide his shame upon witnessing Gohan making an ass of himself while dressed in that embarrassing costume. Despite that, however, it seems as though Goten and Trunks have picked up the Saiyaman mantle right where Gohan left it–meaning Gohan has officially passed his worst form down to Dragon Ball’s next generation.
