Godzilla Cookbook With “Meaty Creations”, Unique Drinks & Vegan Options Revealed For 70th Anniversary [EXCLUSIVE]

Toho is celebrating the legacy of their iconic kaiju in a unique way with Godzilla: The Official Cookbook. The titular reptilian monster first made his debut in the self-named 1954 movie, having since gone on to appear in 37 additional movies, 33 of which were produced by the Japanese studio and exist in their own continuity. The Godzilla franchise has been one of the most influential in the monster movie genre since its inception, with its blend of political themes and grand-scale action inspiring everything from Bong Joon-ho’s The Host to Steven Spielberg’s work on both Jurassic Park and Jaws.

As the year of the franchise’s 70th anniversary nears, Screen Rant is proud to exclusively announce Godzilla: The Official Cookbook.

Godzilla Cookbook With “Meaty Creations”, Unique Drinks & Vegan Options Revealed For 70th Anniversary [EXCLUSIVE]

The unique book, written by chef Kayce Baker and whose early cover can be seen above, will feature over 60 recipes that include everything from “soft and alcoholic drink selections” to “meat creations“, and “vegetarian and vegan options” featuring both easy-to-follow recipes and stunning photography that will “transport you to the heart of epic culinary battles“. The cookbook, which is being published by Titan Books in a gorgeous hardcover format, is set to hit shelves on September 10, 2024.

The Godzilla Cookbook Continues The Kaiju’s Recent Pop Culture Dominance

While already holding the Guinness World Record for the longest continuously-running film franchise, the 2024 cookbook will continue Godzilla‘s dominance over pop culture in recent years. Having remained dormant for much of the mid-2000s, the kaiju first began his resurgence onscreen with 2014’s Godzilla, the start of Legendary’s Monsterverse that has since seen him included in the cinematic universe’s epic crossover Godzilla vs. Kong in 2021 and the currently airing Apple TV+ show, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Toho would themselves revive their own version of the franchise with 2016’s Shin Godzilla, which became a critical and commercial hit and led to the studio continuing with the 2017 anime movie Planet of the Monsters at Netflix, its two sequels, City on the Edge of Battle and The Planet Eater, and an anime TV show, Singular Point. Their most recent effort, Godzilla Minus One, has proven to be one of the biggest hits yet for the Japan-based productions of the franchise as it explores the kaiju unleashing terror on a postwar Japan trying to recover from the devastation of World War II.

In addition to Godzilla: The Official Cookbook, the kaiju’s pop culture streak will continue in 2024 with the next installment in Legendary’s Monsterverse, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which will see the titular Titans team up to face a new threat from Hollow Earth. Given the year will also mark the franchise’s 70th anniversary, it seems likely that Toho will have other exciting announcements for the future, including a potential Minus One sequel, which writer/director/VFX supervisor Takashi Yamazaki has expressed his hopes to make. With his reign of success ongoing, it will be interesting to see where Toho looks to take the character next.
