God of War is full of places to explore through the six realms available, and one of the more challenging places to reach is the Landsuther Mines. Unfortunately, the Landsuther Mines is a location in Midgard that isn’t immediately accessible and is locked behind side quests in God of War. Fortunately, Landsuther Mines won’t require players to spend too much time in the area, but anyone who is looking to beat God of War with 100% completion will need to make a stop there at some point.
The Landsuther Mines location contains a few notable items, like two of Odin’s Ravens, the “Kneel Before Thor!” Treasure Map, and one of Brok’s shops in God of War. Before players can reach Landsuther Mines, they’ll have to complete the Second Hand Soul favor for Brok and discover what happened to his Dwarven friend, Andvari. This is the first of favors in Brok’s questline, and it can be completed near the beginning of God of War shortly after Brok opens his shop on the Lake of Nine.
Once the Second Hand Soul favor is complete, Brok will have another favor to ask of Kratos and Atreus that continues the story of the first. This favor is the Deus Ex Malachite sidequest, and it requires Kratos and Atreus to meet Brok just outside of Landsuther Mines. To reach the entrance of Landsuther Mines, leave Brok’s shop on the Lake of Nine and take the boat south to the main statue of Thor in God of War. Then, continue rowing down the right side passageway to reach Landsuther Mines. If players attempt to reach Landsuther Mines before the Deus Ex Malachite sidequest is assigned, they’ll only get as far as the sealed doors.
How To Enter Landsuther Mines in God of War
After Kratos and Atreus continue down the water passage to Brok’s shop outside of Landsuther Mines, speak with Brok to gain entrance to the mines. The location is filled with both Dark Elves and Nightmare enemies, as well as a few higher-level Draugr. To complete the Deus Ex Malachite favor, Kratos and Atreus will have to make their way through the mine to find Andvari’s Hammer. Once the hammer has been found, return it to Brok to complete the favor in God of War.
Completing the Deus Ex Malachite favor rewards Kratos with a stat-related enchantment in God of War called Andvari’s Soul. After the enchantment is placed into a slot on the piece of armor, Andvari’s Soul will grant a Health Burst on any successful Runic attack kill. This enchantment is passive, but the high activation chance of “Andvari’s Soul” will make completing the remainder of God of War much easier.
