What Happened In Go! Go! Loser Ranger! Episode 2?

In Go! Go! Loser Ranger! episode #2, “Go! Fighter D!”, after making his way to the surface, D disguised himself as Hibiki Sakurama, a Ranger cadet whom he had met by chance, to infiltrate the Rangers in the hope of taking down Red Keeper. Both Red Keeper and one of his subordinates thoroughly intimidated D, however, and to make things worse, a junior Ranger, Yumeko Suzukiri, unmasked D as a Monster. In a surprise twist, however, Suzukiri offered to help D out of a shared desire to take down the Ranger Force.

Before Suzukiri could explain her motives, the real Sakurama informed them that a Duster, Fighter F, had appeared on the surface and was being attacked by the Rangers. F had gone to the surface to look for D, and even though he was quick to give up on that, Red Keeper still appeared and destroyed him with his Divine Artifact. Using the Divine Artifact to kill a Monster means that they can never come back to life, so D was forced to watch his friend be brutally killed for good and be reminded of just how dangerous his mission is.

Go! Go! Loser Ranger! episode #2 was still about setting up the story, and a big part of that was establishing the main threat to D’s mission. The Dragon Keepers were never going to be easy opponents to deal with, but with the reveal that their signature weapons can permanently kill Monsters, there can now be genuine tension in D’s fights since each one can easily be his last. Those kinds of stakes can add a lot to the series, so it will be interesting to see what Go! Go! Loser Ranger! ends up doing with it.
