The movie delivered a surprise with the reveal that the villain of the original Ghostbusters was also the looming threat facing Summerville. This came with the unexpected cameo from Olivia Wilde, who plays Gozer in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. This could come through reveals like the Death Chill being an extension of Gozer’s powers or that unleashing this force was ultimately Gozer’s plan and reason for wanting to invade Earth. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire would not only help expand what audiences know about Gozer but also increase its role in the overall mythology.
