GHOSTBUSTERS: BACK IN TOWN To Give Fans New Story Ahead of Frozen Empire Sequel (Exclusive)

A new Ghostbusters miniseries from Dark Horse Comics is going to bridge the gap between Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The internet is still abuzz from the trailer for the upcoming sequel and Screen Rant has the exclusive first look at the comic series set to lead into the latest Ghostbusters film.

Screen Rant is excited to reveal the exclusive details shared by Dark Horse Comics. Ghostbusters: Back in Town is a four-issue miniseries written by David Booher, Blue Delliquanti providing art, colors by Mildred Louis and Cris Peter, and letters by Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt. Kyle Lambert will provide the main cover with a variant cover created by Steve Morris.

“Our friends at Dark Horse have picked up the Spengler family and hand delivered them to Manhattan where they will begin their journey back into Ghostbusting! It has been a personal thrill to collaborate with this incredible group of artists and storytellers on new chapters in the proton jungle.” – Jason Reitman

Set after Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the miniseries sees Callie, Gary, Trevor, and Phoebe moving to New York City to take over the Ghostbusters business in the iconic Firehouse. But shifting family dynamics and paranormal activity may make it a harder job than it sounds.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the most recent entry in the franchise, focused on a new generation of Ghostbusters, particularly the brother and sister pair of Phoebe and Trevor Spengler, the grandchildren of Egon Spengler. Phoebe and Trevor, along with their friends Podcast and Lucky, began investigating strange happenings in their small town that led to them stopping the evil entity Gozer from taking over the world. The film was a success at the box office and was well-loved by fans who saw it as a loving tribute to the original film. The sequel to the film, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, is expected to be released in March 2024.

While Ghostbusters: Afterlife introduced this new iteration of the Ghostbusters team, Ghostbusters: Back in Town will give fans a greater look at the new dynamics of the family-based squad. Gary and Callie are seemingly taking a big step in their relationship, no doubt potentially causing some friction with Callie’s children Trevor and Phoebe. Not only is the makeup of the family changing, but they’re moving to where it all got started for the original Ghostbusters: the beloved Firehouse. There are going to be some big changes by the time Frozen Empire releases, and Dark Horse Comics’ new miniseries should give fans everything they need for when the new film debuts.
