A new behind-the-scenes video from Gen V reveals the extent to which practical stunts were used in creating The Boys spinoff series. The show focuses on a group of Supe students at Godolkin University learning of the Woods, a mysterious location beneath the school run by Vought. Because of the show’s many superhuman characters, there are multiple instances of students using their powers.

Now, Gen V has released a video showing off the many practical effects used to make The Boys spinoff possible.

The video reveals many of the intensive practical stunts and effects that were done to make the series possible. Some actors, like Asa Germann who plays Sam, did all of their own stunts as well. The short video highlights just how much effort went into making the show’s superhero stunts realistic.

Why Gen V Needed Impressive Stunt Work

The spinoff series required an extra amount of stunts because of its key focus on Supe characters within the universe. While The Boys season 4 will no doubt have a number of memorable action scenes, its secondary series has a main cast entirely made of super-powered people. This has resulted in a number of massive fight sequences that required an impressive amount of practical stunt work to make it look real.

It’s possible some of the best stunts are yet to come, as the season finale seems it will be full of moments where characters must use their powers. The final episode can also set the bar for the recently confirmed Gen V season 2, which will no doubt have its own number of action scenes. It also makes incredible stunts a defining feature of the spinoff, showing how impressive fight scenes in the franchise can become.

While Gen V sets up The Boys season 4, its many stunts clarify the show is a much different type of experience than its parent series. The two may be tied together, but the level of positive superhero focus the spinoff differentiates the two in plenty of ways. It should prove interesting to see how both series utilize practical stunts moving forward and how they can be used to define each of them.
