Genshin Impact’s Mondstadt Nation Added To Civilization 6 By Mod

A modder released a Steam mod that adds Genshin Impact‘s Mondstadt nation in Civilization VI, while also turning three of the former’s characters into leaders. The Mondstadt city-state counts among the seven nations that comprise Teyvat – the setting of the miHoYo-developed free-to-play title.

Mondstadt plays an integral role in Genshin Impact in that it’s the first place the player character, known as the Traveler, goes in search of their missing sibling. Of course, the world branches out from there, allowing players to explore other major locales such as Fontaine, Inazuma, and Liyue. MiHoYo’s continued updates encourage further investment in the vibrant world and its happenings, too. Version 1.5 launched in late April, for instance, unleashing a free PlayStation 5 upgrade, a housing system, and new Hangout Events centered around Diona and Noelle. Now PC players can enjoy a bit of that magic in the world of Civilization VI.

A Steam mod by Kevin Liu brings the city-state of Mondstadt to Civilization VI in an impressive Genshin Impact crossover build. Players who wish to download the mod will need to own Civ IV’s Rise and Fall DLC expansion. Notably, the mod replaces the 4X title’s Government Plaza with headquarters for the Knights of Favonius – Mondstadt’s order of protectors. As the unique unit for Mondstadt, the Outrider Knight acts as the skirmisher’s substitute. Plus, three Genshin Impact characters serve in leader roles: Barbara, Fischl, and Noelle. And, according to PCGamesN, the mod even boasts 40 minutes of music from the Genshin Impact OST, adding to the file size considerably.

The Genshin Impact mod for Civilization VI sounds as though it provides an exciting way to experience both the free-to-play action-RPG and the beloved strategy title. It’ll be interesting to see how fans respond to the crossover as PC players get their hands on the build in the days and weeks ahead.

MiHoYo originally released Genshin Impact on PC, PS4, and mobile devices last September and quickly found itself on the receiving end of overnight success. As far as some fans are concerned, though, the studio isn’t in the clear just yet. In addition to patiently waiting for the next major update, the RPG’s legion of players are also eager to find out more about the previously teased Nintendo Switch version.

Players can jump into Genshin Impact on PC, PS4, PS5, Android, and iOS; Civilization VI is available across on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One platforms.
