Genshin Impact 1.6 Update Livestream Coming This Friday

Later in the week, miHoYo will air a special livestream to showcase everything that’s coming to Genshin Impact Update 1.6. A “Special Program” of this nature is nothing new to the free-to-play RPG. The development crew hosted a similar livestream in mid-April to unveil its plans for Version 1.5.

Genshin Impact’s 1.5 update touched down in late April, specifically heralding the advent of a free PlayStation 5 upgrade. Players additionally gained access to Dionna and Noelle Hangout Events, as well as a brand-new housing system. What exactly 1.6 will bring to the table remains under wraps – officially, at least. Over the course of the last few weeks, the internet has become inundated in leaks and rumors concerning miHoYo’s supposed plans for the next big Genshin Impact patch. Information from one leak claims Electro characters will receive a buff, for example. Another insists characters skins will make the cut, too. The speculation should come to a close by this week’s end.

A Hoyolab blog post from the development team this morning confirmed that a “Special Program” for Genshin Impact Version 1.6 is slated to go live on Friday, May 28 at 7:00 am ET. MiHoYo will host the livestream on the game’s official YouTube page, providing fans with all of the “juicy details” regarding 1.6. Moreover, those who tune in can expect to receive redemption codes and other gifts during the stream.

The time between Update 1.5’s preview stream and its actual release, which was less than two weeks, suggests miHoYo may launch 1.6 in the days following this week’s broadcast. But whether or not the crew intends to share a due date on Friday for the new version of Genshin Impact presently remains unknown.

A free-to-play RPG, Genshin Impact hit the ground running last September on PC, PS4, and mobile devices. Needles to say, its popularity has yet to wane in the months since then. There’s arguably room for the title to grow an even larger audience, too, considering the previously announced Nintendo Switch release remains in limbo. Rumors claim Genshin Impact’s Switch iteration may be suffering delays due to hardware issues, though a 2021 rollout is apparently still on the cards. At the time of writing, however, neither Nintendo nor miHoYo have corroborated as much.

Genshin Impact is available to enjoy as a free-to-play title PC, PS4, PS5, Android, and iOS.
