Gen V’s Big Reveal Makes The Boys’ Compound V Story So Much Worse

Gen V’s Big Reveal Makes The Boys’ Compound V Story So Much Worse

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Gen V episode 6.

Gen V’s big reveal in episode 6 makes the plan behind The Boys’ Compound V considerably worse. It has already been unveiled to the world that Supes are not organic but results of Compound V being injected into them as children. This exposed one of Vought International’s biggest secrets, as it starts to highlight some of the organization’s shadier intentions to the public, yet they are able to continue as normal thanks to some strong PR work.

Compound V’s origin in The Boys not only explains how Vought is responsible for turning babies into supes, but it also shows that parents were in on this plan. In most cases, parents were willing to take a payout and let their children be injected with Compound V in the hopes they would become a Supe. Not only do they get paid for their consent in this, but the idea of their children becoming powerful and famous also comes with the promise of more money in the future. Vought exploits the most shallow and desperate parents to essentially use their children as experiments – and Gen V has taken this idea one step further.

Gen V Revealed The True Reason For The Woods

Gen V’s Big Reveal Makes The Boys’ Compound V Story So Much Worse

The Woods have been the most mysterious part of Gen V’s lore so far, with Godolkin University keeping students imprisoned there. Over the course of the first season, the show has slowly explored the reason it exists, and its true nature has finally been answered. Godolkin is using this facility to try and create a virus that will allow them to control Supes. This virus will be used to seemingly interact with those who have taken Compound V. While at first it may make them sick, this can become much more extreme and as episode 6 showed, it can even kill Supes.

Instantly this virus becomes one of the most dangerous things in The Boys universe. Supes have been shown to be extremely strong, yet this virus can easily wipe them out. It further highlights the corruption within the likes of the university and Vought, not only helping create these superheroes but also taking a level of control over their lives. Gen V’s Supe virus teases The Boys season 4, with both shows now expected to set up each other’s next season. With the potential of Gen V’s finale exposing Godolkin’s plans – either to the public or perhaps a member of The Boys – it teases a potentially wild season 4.

Vought And Godolkin’s Plan Makes The Boys’ Compound V Reveal Much Worse

While Vought and Godolkin University’s plans may not be entirely the same, the show had previously established contact between Dean, Indira Shetty and Vought CEO, Ashley Barrett. This makes it very likely they are working together on this virus and will become a major concern for most supes. Not only could this control most university students, but even members of The Seven could be infected with this making almost no one safe. To make matters worse, those parents involved in letting their children be injected with Compound V didn’t sign up for them to be infected with a virus which makes the unethical nature of creating Supes even worse.

Parents clearly have no idea what they are actually signing up for and with the sinister nature of The Woods, it will completely blindside them and their kids. With the virus already killing off a Supe and death on Godolkin’s campus not being uncommon, these students are treated like pawns which means their parents have unintentionally exposed them to this cruel fate. Godolkin and Vought’s The Woods virus plan shows Gen V is far more than a spinoff and is even pushing the main story. With the show making Compound V’s nature even more twisted, this evil plan is bound to continue in The Boys season 4.
