Gen V Season 2: Release Date Prediction, Story & Everything We Know

<

The hormonal teenaged Supes of Godolkin University made their Amazon Prime Video debut in 2023, and there’s already questions around what lies ahead in Gen V season 2. Set immediately after The Boys season 3, Gen V focuses on the young Super students of the Godolkin University School of Crime Fighting — an institution that’s both an obvious X-Men satirization and recruitment tool for Vought International. The Boys creator Eric Kripke returned to develop the show, which will both expand the universe of The Boys and stand on its own.

Amazon clearly knew how popular Gen V would be when it entered developed, as word on Gen V season 2 first arrived months before the first episode of the show had debuted. In January 2023 it was reported that Amazon had opened a writer’s room for Gen V season 2 to begin early development on the next chapter of The Boys spinoff (via Deadline). As predicted the spinoff of The Boys was a hit with Amazon Prime Video subscribers, and now Gen V season 2 is officially on the way.

The search for news on Gen V season 2 has started now that the first season has concluded. The explosive finale of the first season of Gen V has already set up many questions the second season has to answer. While there’s been no direct season 2 teases or reveals from Amazon or the creative team of The Boys around the next season of Gen V since the finale arrived, it was confirmed in mid-October that the spin-off has been renewed. Season 2 of Gen V is officially happening, though it may be that updates on what to expect don’t arrive until after The Boys season 4.

Gen V Season 2 Has Been Renewed For Season 2

Gen V season 2 is confirmed, with Amazon announcing the renewal of the hit The Boys spinoff on October 19, 2023 (via Variety). The show proved to be a hit for Amazon, as evidenced by the mid-season renewal confirmation before the finale on November 8. Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, released the following statement explaining why giving Gen V season 2 the go-ahead was an easy decision to make:

“Expanding the universe of ‘The Boys’ with a series as bold as ‘Gen V’ has been an incredible journey for us and our wonderful partners at Sony. From our first conversation with showrunners Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, along with Eric Kripke, Evan Goldberg, and Seth Rogen, we knew ‘Gen V’ would push the boundaries. Their unapologetic approach is exactly what audiences love, and it has helped ‘Gen V’ become the No. 1 series on Prime Video in over 130 countries. ‘Gen V’ is Prime Video’s most acquisitive new Original series of 2023, and we’re excited that our incredible cast and crew are going to continue telling brave and bold stories from ‘Gen V’ to our customers.”

Gen V Season 2 Release Date Prediction

There’s no Gen V season 2 release date yet. With the still ongong SAG-AFTRA strikes meaning production on the next season of Gen V cannot start yet, a 2024 release date for Gen V season 2 could be difficult (especially since this also may mean it clashes with the upcoming The Boys season 4). It currently looks like season 2 of Gen V will come out in 2025.

Gen V Season 2 Cast

Maddie Phillips as Cate and Patrick Schwarzenegger as Golden Boy in Gen V

The cast of Gen V season 2 will see many returning names from the first season. Even actors portraying characters who died could still be part of the cast via flashbacks, and with a show set in a universe like The Boys there’s always a chance that a dead character could return via some shady Vought International experimentation. Since there have been no recast announcement and The Boys spinoff has been a hit for Amazon, the returning Gen V season 2 cast is expected to include:

  • Jaz Sinclair (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Marie Moreau
  • Chanve Perdomo (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Andre Anderson
  • Lizze Broadway (Ghosted) as Emma Meyer
  • Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters) as Cate Dunlap
  • London Thor (Shameless) and Derek Luh (Shining Vale) as Jordan Li
  • Asa Germann (Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story) as Sam

Patrick Schwarzenegger (The Terminal List), Shelley Conn (Love Sarah), and Clancy Brown (John Wick: Chapter 4) could also return for the Gen V season 2 cast despite their character’s deaths, especially for sequences that detail events at Godolkin which happened before the start of season 1. Cameoing cast members from The Boys who also appear in Gen V, such as Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman, are likely to return too. Who the likely cameos will be may become clearer after The Boys season 4, however.

Gen V Season 2 Story

Homelander, Marie Moreau, and Victoria Neuman in Gen V

The ending of Gen V left several teases for what will happen when the show returns. The Gen V season 2 finale ended with Marie, Andre, Jordan, and Little Cricket locked away in a padded cell by Vought, with the news blaming them for the events caused by Sam and Cate. However, Little Cricket is seen slurping a fruit smoothie, and when Marie comes round the rest of the group doesn’t appear overly agitated. Their lives don’t seem to be in danger, which means Vought must have plans for them in Gen V season 2. It also means that the next season of Gen V may not take place at Godolkin University.

The ending of Gen V season 1 also saw the surprise appearance of Homelander, who arrived just as Marie had exploded Cate’s arm and put a stop to the rogue Supes she’d unleashed. Homelander looked set to end Maries life with his laser vision before the scene cut to black, before he’s seen again smirking at TV coverage proclaiming that Sam and Cate are the new “Guardians of God U” who put a stop to Marie, Jordan, Little Cricket, and Andre. It’s clear he had something to do with whatever happened in the direct aftermath and Marie ending up in a Vought facility. Exactly what happened, and how Marie survived Homelander’s laser vision, however, won’t be revealed until Gen V season 2 returns.
