The deluxe collection of Marjorie Finnegan, Temporal Criminal will be Artist, Writers, and Artisans’ second Kickstarter campaign, following the wildly successful funding of a similar expanded edition of Frank Cho’s Fight Girls, which soared beyond its initial funding goal in only nine hours. Several other notable comic projects, including a Good Omens adaptaion, and an effort to republish out-of-print Gargoyle comics, have been funded through Kickstarter recently. Considering Garth Ennis’ notoriety, as well as the positive reception to Marjorie Finnegan following its initial release, it seems likely the series’ director’s cut will be funded with ease.

AWA’s Chief Creative Officer, Axel Alonso – a veteran comic book creator himself, and former Editor-in-Chief of Marvel, who served as the editor for Marjorie Finnegan – had this to say about the Kickstarter project:

“Garth Ennis’ creative ambition shines in all of his work. Marjorie is such an incredible character and the initial book is one of AWA’s top sellers. Now we want to give Garth’s fans the chance to delve even deeper and there is no better way to do that than by building a Kickstarter campaign around a new story and an array of new, unseen material. With this new issue, Garth is bringing more of the big laughs and epic adventures readers loved in the original series.”

Matthew Anderson, AWA’s Co-Chairman and President, echoed this sentiment, stating:

“Coming off an incredible year overall for AWA, including publishing THE RIBBON QUEEN with Garth, we wanted to kick off 2024 with something special for avid fans. It’s such a rare opportunity to be able to bring fan-driven and unique Garth Ennis content to life like this, and Kickstarter allows us to reach fans around the world with special and limited-edition formats.”

Some of the exciting incentives announced for the campaign include brand-new wraparound cover art, courtesy of artist Amanda Conner, as well as “rare material from Garth Ennis’ archives,” plus a coveted fresh Marjorie adventure. Further, assuming the Kickstarter proves a success, as expected, more of the temporal criminal’s antics are sure to be expected.

Goran and I had such a blast with Marj and the gang,” Garth Ennis said of the series, shouting out artist Goran Sudžuka, before noting that, “the character became an instant favorite of mine.” He also hyped the possibility of the series continuing beyond that: “There are many, many more Marj stories left to tell, and we’re looking forward to working with AWA to bring readers another slice of this particularly insane pie.” For now, fans of Marjorie Finnegan, Temporal Criminal should remain eager for the Kickstarter campaign, so they support the next chapter in Garth Ennis’ latest comic thrill ride.
