Loki’s role in the next Avengers film may have been revealed after a game-changing tease from Marvel Studios. Unbeknownst to Thor and the Asgardians, Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief is working hard to learn about the burgeoning Marvel multiverse in the face of the upcoming war against Kang the Conqueror. Loki season 2, episode 4, “The Heart of the TVA” ended on a massive cliffhanger, leaving the rest of the outing open to any possibilities.
Admittedly, there’s not much hype about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Granted that the Destin Cretton-directed film is still a few years away, the MCU’s interconnected storytelling usually gets fans excited about big projects as such long before it premieres. The fact that the Multiverse Saga has been plagued with issues may have been a factor. In addition to that, there’s also no clear Avengers team yet, which makes the MCU’s current storytelling feel directionless. Arguably, Loki is the only project that clearly sets up the culmination of the Multiverse Saga.

In preparation for the final episodes of the year, Marvel Studios released the Loki mid-season 2 trailer, as well as the roll-out of some promo art, which tease the God of Mischief’s role in the next Avengers film as pointed out by novellex on Twitter. Check out the post below:
The post points out how Loki and his new costume appear to emanate the green energy flowing throughout the Multiverse. Couple that with the God of Mischief supposedly being in He Who Remains’ Citadel at the End of Time and fans are convinced that Marvel Studios is setting up the character to be the next ruler of the Multiverse.
Loki’s Kang Replacement Tease Makes Avengers 5 Even More Exciting

Amid the Multiverse Saga issues, Loki becoming the ruler of the multiverse is such an exciting idea. For starters, it somehow eases up the pressure on Kang the Conqueror being the primary focal point of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Secondly, it’s wise to use the long-time fan-favorite character as one of the anchors of this new narrative for the franchise. This is particularly vital now because of the absence of several founding Avengers in the MCU. The universe needs someone that the public can be invested in for the Multiverse Saga to succeed, and Loki is the best candidate for that having been in the franchise since 2011.
Assuming that Loki indeed becomes the ruler of the multiverse in the next Avengers film, it’s curious what kind of leader he will be. Based on Loki season 2, it seems like he has been fully redeemed. Now, he truly understands what it means to do good. However, Loki will always have his edge, which makes him a very interesting character to begin with, and his supposed reign not without any surprise twists.
Loki season 2 airs new episodes every Thursday on Disney+.
