Now would be a good time to make sure your DVR has plenty of room. FX has released its fall schedule featuring some of the network’s biggest shows, and showcasing the program many have been waiting for – the premiere of Sons of Anarchy season 4.
After weeks of building anticipation with a Red Hot Chili Pepper infused teaser, the outlaw bikers of SAMCRO will come roaring back for a fourth season, the first week of September.
Their return is not the only good news. For being so patient during the hiatus, FX will reward viewers by kicking off the season with a 90-minute episode. The additional half hour should not only attract more attention to the show’s premiere, but also allow more time for the Sons to reacquaint themselves with Charming after the club’s time abroad and behind bars.
September will also see the return of FX’s other gang, with the seventh season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It’s shaping up to be a full season as Mac (Rob McElhenney) gains 50 pounds and Charlie Day teases, “With 2012 coming up, we’re tackling the apocalypse.”
Meanwhile, fans can expect to see guest stars galore, including rockers Kings of Leon in a special Glee-inspired episode.
On the same night, animated super spy Archer teases the upcoming third season (which will come sometime next year) with a brief, three-week stint that gives way to the third season premiere of The League in October.
The fantasy football comedy was critically well-received in its first two seasons and saw a marked increase in ratings from 1.08 million in season 1 to 1.4 million in season 2, which prompted the network to say yes to a third go-round earlier this year.
Also in October, Nip/Tuck and Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk return to FX with the network’s recently acquired American Horror Story. There’s been quite a bit of speculation as to what the ‘horror’ in the series actually is, so there is bound to be a good deal of anticipation for the show.
Adding to the conjecture, Murphy teases that American Horror Story may actually venture into the supernatural with an unexpected guest residing in Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton’s house.
Murphy stated:
“What do you think the thing in the basement is? That’s my favorite question and I get so many great answers because I know what it is. He’s my little favorite creature. It’s based on a real thing! When we were shooting, everyone was freaked out by it, even the actors. We had a lot of insomnia. The weird thing is we also had a lot of accidents during the shooting. The house that we are shooting in is supposedly possessed — which I knew when I signed on for it. That was an added benefit.”
Well, there you have it; a creature based on a real thing – vague, but intriguing, nevertheless. Murphy’s statements sound like he’s preparing viewers for a curveball, but we will have to wait just a while longer to find out.
