FX Announces Premiere Dates For Fall 2021 TV Show Slate

FX announced premiere dates for its 2021 slate of TV shows. The cable channel first put itself on the map in the early 2000s with the police drama, The Shield, the Ryan Murphy-created plastic surgery drama, Nip/Tuck, and the Denis Leary-helmed Rescue Me, a drama centered on the lives of New York City firefighters post-9/11. In 2005, FX premiered its long-running hit comedy, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which is set to enter its 15th season and has been renewed all the way up to season 18.

In the early 2010s, FX established itself as a premier destination for premium cable programming with original shows like Sons of Anarchy, Archer, and The Americans. With a focus on mature themes and content coupled with high-quality writing, directing, and acting, FX was able to compete with leading premium cable channels like HBO. Today, FX is now a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company and known as the home of hit series like American Horror Story, Fargo, and Atlanta. In recent years, the popularity of these shows has exploded in part due to their streaming availability on Hulu.

Now, FX is announcing premiere dates for its 2021 slate of original shows. FX has grown many different branches over the years, including its sister network, FXX, FX on Hulu, and the streaming service, FX+, which can be a bit confusing. This schedule includes premieres on the cable channel and FX on Hulu exclusives. Check out the full schedule in the Twitter thread below:

The first series to kick FX’s summer slate, American Horror Stories, is one of its most anticipated. The American Horror Story-spinoff anthology series will feature a new horror tale in every episode. The first two episodes in the 7-episode limited series premiere on July 15, which will soon be followed by the 10th season of American Horror Story, subtitled Double Feature. This unprecedented season of the Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk-created horror series will do something the show has never done before, chronicle two scary stories in one season, one by the sea and one by the sand.

FX’s upcoming slate also includes two Taika Waititi-related series. The first of which to air will be Reservation Dogs, a half-hour comedy series created by Waititi that will follow four Indigenous teenagers living in rural Oklahoma who decide to swindle their way to the promising land of California. The next will be season 3 of What We Do in the Shadows, the mockumentary horror series based on the 2014 film of the same name written and directed by Waititi and Jemaine Clement, the latter of whom created the series for FX. With such an impressive lineup of original shows for this summer and into the fall, FX has shown it is here to stay.
