The Walt Disney Company has greenlit Frozen 3, which should not come as a shock to most, and although not much is known about its plot, one of Anna’s storylines will likely draw inspiration from Frozen 2‘s ending. Based on these figures and Disney’s recent downward trend of box office hits, audiences should expect to see many more Frozen films in the future.

Of course, one can infer what the main characters’ (Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven) storylines will entail based on how Frozen 2 ended. Elsa stepped down as the queen to become the protector of the Enchanted Forest. Kristoff proposed to Anna, and she said yes. Sven supported the happy couple, and Olaf was revived after Elsa temporarily died. But one of the most important developments was Anna becoming the Queen of Arendelle.

Anna assuming the role of Queen of Arendelle will likely result in some (if not a lot of) conflict in Frozen 3. Perhaps she will feel overwhelmed with her new duties and responsibilities as the kingdom’s ruler, especially if she is also planning her wedding to Kristoff at the same time. Anna has always been the carefree and idealistic sister, so becoming the queen at such a young age might be a little too much for her to handle. No one can blame Anna if the stress and pressure of being responsible for a kingdom significantly affects her.
Given everything the audience knows about Anna, it would only make sense if becoming the Queen of Arendelle at the end of Frozen 2 set the stage for her storyline in the upcoming third Frozen film. While Elsa might be off protecting the Enchanted Forest and on an exciting journey of her own, Anna will probably be struggling to keep Arendelle from falling apart following the transition of Elsa as the queen to Anna. It’s unclear what mishaps might happen after Anna assumes the role of Queen of Arendelle, but she will undoubtedly struggle to adapt in Frozen 3.

How A Frozen Sequel Focused On Queen Anna Could Work
Following the shocking twist that Elsa was the fifth elemental spirit in Frozen 2, one would think that the next installment in the film series would explore more of her origins and how she adapts to life with the Northuldra. While Elsa learning more about herself and her powers would make sense as a storyline in the upcoming movie, it also cannot ignore Anna’s journey. Anna is just as integral to the lore of Frozen as Elsa, even though she doesn’t have magical powers. The sequel should focus on Anna’s struggles as the Queen of Arendelle.
As mentioned above, Anna will likely have difficulty adjusting to her new role in Frozen 3. She will have more responsibilities than ever before, and it’s her job to ensure the kingdom is thriving. Perhaps that might be where the villain factors into the plot. As the queen, Anna will have to oversee foreign relations, and like the first film, some may try to take advantage of her inexperience. Hans was mentioned a good amount in the previous movie. So, he could return to wreak havoc, or his 12 older brothers might prove to be just as evil as Hans.
Nevertheless, the ending of Frozen 2 presents the perfect opportunity to bring the story back to Arendelle. While it was entertaining to see outside the kingdom, it would be refreshing if the upcoming film primarily focuses on a conflict in Arendelle, stemming from Anna learning to be a ruler and outsiders telling her how to rule. Hopefully, Frozen 3 will feature Anna navigating her new role and proving to everyone that she can be a great queen.
Anna Deserves To Play A Bigger Role In Frozen 3
As mentioned above, Anna is just as important as Elsa in the Frozen franchise, so she deserves to step into the spotlight in the third movie. The first two installments primarily focused on Elsa’s journey of learning how to control her powers and where they came from while Anna was by her sister’s side and supported her. Of course, Anna encountered some conflicts, but the films mainly revolved around Elsa. As a result, Anna has earned a bigger role in Frozen 3, and hopefully, she will get one.
The good news is that Frozen 2‘s ending indicates that Anna will have a more significant storyline in the upcoming film. Firstly, she and Kristoff got engaged, so the couple’s wedding will probably be a part of Frozen 3‘s plot. Anna is also the new Queen of Arendelle, which is a scary role for anyone. However, it will be especially arduous for Anna, as her sister won’t always be there to help her. Anna’s life will significantly change in the third installment, and after being in Elsa’s shadow for two movies, it’s time for Anna to be the main character.
A Popular Frozen 3 Theory Would Make Anna’s Character Way Less Relatable
Although Anna comes off as highly relatable in the Frozen franchise, a popular fan theory could change that if it turns out to be canon in Frozen 3.
Elsa Can Still Help Arendelle (& Guide Her Sister)
Even if Anna is at the center of the central conflict in Frozen 3, that doesn’t mean that Elsa won’t play a significant part in the story. Elsa and Anna are both important to the franchise, so they should have a large presence in the films. Although Elsa is now the protector of the forest following Frozen 2, she should be able to return to Arendelle whenever she pleases. The former queen will undoubtedly race back to the kingdom if her sister needs her, and if Anna does struggle to juggle all of her new responsibilities, Elsa can help her.
Elsa has experience with ruling since she did it for three years before stepping down and handing the crown to her sister. She will be able to guide Anna through the transition and, as a result, continue helping Arendelle. Unfortunately, all of this is speculation and based on educated guesses by factoring in what happened in the previous films. Only time will tell what the plot of Frozen 3 entails, and sadly, Disney has not announced a release date for the upcoming movie.
