Friends: 10 Times Ross Said Everything Fans Were Thinking

Friends: 10 Times Ross Said Everything Fans Were Thinking

Everyone has related to Ross on more than one occasion during the 10 seasons of Friends, whether it’s being the butt of the joke in a peer group or having an interest in something that no one else has. Regardless, there have definitely been many moments where Ross’s comedy was seriously underrated.

One of the best things about the show is the ability of each character to say exactly what fans are thinking, and given that Ross is one of the most relatable characters, there are many times when he says exactly the phrase that is on everyone’s minds.

“That Tastes Like Feet!”

Friends: 10 Times Ross Said Everything Fans Were Thinking

In season 6 episode 9, “The One Where Ross Got High,” the gang all get together for Thanksgiving, including Ross and Monica’s parents, and Rachel takes it upon herself to make a trifle. She gets the recipe horribly wrong and ends up putting beef, peas and onions in the middle of the cake.

As everyone tries to hide Rachel’s mistake from her to save her embarrassment, Ross eats a plateful before Rachel can try some, as fans who know the recipe look on in comedic horror. Ross follows it up with, “That tastes like feet …”

“We Were On A Break!”

Ross & Rachel in Friends talking about divorce/annulment

Ross said this multiple times throughout the show’s run and it’s a quote that has certainly divided audiences. The argument stems from Ross sleeping with the girl from the copy place while he and Rachel were taking a break from their relationship.

Half of the audience was on Rachel’s side in feeling that Ross was in the wrong, but the other half of the audience sided with Ross every time the issue was brought up.

“That Is Gonna Hurt Tomorrow.”

Ross carrying Fajitas

In season 10 episode 2, “The One Where Ross Is Fine,” after the shock of being Rachel and Joey kiss, Ross pretends that he is fine with the situation when, in fact, it must have been very uncomfortable for him to see – a situation that most people have been in before.

Ross invites Charlie, Rachel and Joey over for dinner where he makes fajitas and brings out the sizzling hot plate. As fans’ skin starts to crawl at the sight of Ross holding the plate without oven mitts, Ross says exactly what everyone is thinking, ‘That’s gonna hurt tomorrow.”

“This Is Not Good For My Rage.”

Ross Joey and Chandler Friends

In season 5 episode 9, “The One With Ross’s Sandwich,” a subplot of the episode is Chandler and Monica trying to keep their relationship a secret. In doing so, Joey takes the fall for Chandler and says that he slept with Monica.

In an episode where Ross is taking pills for his anger issues, fans are worried about how he will react to Joey the womanizer sleeping with his sister, and Ross appropriately says, “This is not good for my rage …”

“I’m A Terrible Father.”

Ross and Emma Friends

In season 9 episode 7, “The One With Ross’s Inappropriate Song,” the only way that Ross can make his newborn daughter Emma laugh is by singing “Baby Got Back” by Sir Mix-A-Lot. Even though Rachel is hesitant, it doesn’t take long for her to start singing the same song, as she realizes none of her methods are working.

As Ross starts singing to Emma, he says “I’m a terrible father,” as the audience laughs but also comically judges his song choice.

“A Couple Stupid Boxes Get Wet And She Get’s A Porsche?!”

Monica and Ross with Porsche in the background in Friends

In season 7 episode 13, “The One Where Rosita Dies,” Ross and Monica’s parents are selling their family home, so the siblings go back to take a look at their old possessions. Monica discovers that when the garage flooded during the summer, their parents used Monica’s boxes of toys to keep the water away from their Porsche.

In order for them to fully apologize, the parents think it’s only fair to give Monica the Porsche in return, as Ross and the audience look on in shock.

“Any Words Will Do.”

Ross and his cousin on the couch

In season 7 episode 19, “The One With Ross And Monica’s Cousin,” Ross invites their attractive Cousin Cassie over to their apartment after everyone stares at her, but then Ross ends up strangely attracted to her and ends up trying to kiss her.

Cassie then yells at Ross for attempting to make a move, as Ross sits in silence, trying to find the right words to say to not make the situation worse. As fans watch whilst screaming, “Say something,” Ross says the words on everyone’s minds, “Any words will do!”

“Goodbye.”

Ross and Chandler hugging Friends

In season 9 episode 11, “The One Where Rachel Goes Back To Work,” Chandler is in-between jobs and he doesn’t think it’s the right time to start a family, as they might not be in a strong financial position to have a baby.

Chandler has to tell Monica that he doesn’t want to have a baby and, fans knowing how badly Monica wants to have one, wait for her reaction. Ross says Goodbye to Chandler, as he knows this could be the end.

“It’s Not Cooler.”

Ross and Phoebe the divorcer

In season 9 episode 16, “The One With The Boob Job,” Phoebe and Ross are talking about marriage and Ross says that he loves it. Knowing Ross’s marriage history, Phoebe says, “Really you?! Divorce-o?” Ross says he prefers being called “The Divorcer” because he thinks it sounds cooler.

Later on in the episode, Ross is called the name out loud in a real context and once he hears it he realizes, “Yeah, it’s not cooler.”

“Hey, Remember When I Had A Monkey? What Was I Thinking?”

Ross with Marcel on his shoulder in Friends

In season 6 episode 17, “The One With Unagi,” the gang are all sitting in the coffee house when Ross randomly says, “Hey, remember when I had a monkey? Yeah, what was I thinking?” referencing his pet monkey, Marcel, from earlier on in the show’s first season.

Even though fans may not have been thinking of this subplot at that exact moment, five seasons later, when everyone is reminded of it, it does seem like a bizarre decision to give one of the characters a pet monkey.
