Friday The 13th Can’t Miss The Best Possible Release Date For The Camp Crystal Lake Show

Friday the 13th is set to return in the form of a prequel show titled Crystal Lake, and the series has the perfect release date to target. It has now been 15 years since a Friday the 13th movie released, with the 2009 film serving as a reboot that put a fresh spin on the first four movies in the franchise. Any movie continuation of the Friday the 13th franchise hasn’t come to fruition since 2009 due to confusing studio rights and lawsuits over the original movie’s screenplay and Jason Voorhees character ownership. That said, A24’s Crystal Lake will finally bring the series back from the dead.

Crystal Lake will release on Peacock, with Bryan Fuller still said to be the series creator and the original movie’s screenwriter, Victor Miller, attached as an executive producer. Aside from confirmation that Friday the 13th‘s prequel will feature original star Adrienne King as a recurring character, Crystal Lake‘s story will provide a deeper look into the origins of the most impactful characters and elements, including Pamela Voorhees, Camp Crystal Lake, and the events that led to young Jason’s tragic death before he turned into a masked killer. While the show likely won’t meet its rumored 2024 release window, there’s a perfect 2025 release date to target.

Friday The 13th’s Crystal Lake Delays Mean It Should Target June 13, 2025 As A Release Date

Jason voorhees was not supposed to be the villain of Friday the 13th pamela voorhees

Before the Hollywood labor strikes, those involved with Crystal Lake suggested the Friday the 13th prequel show would debut in 2024. Within the calendar year, there would have been two Friday the 13ths on the calendar, September and December, with the former obviously being the more fitting option to kick off the Halloween horror season of programming. However, there’s been a lack of production updates on the show, meaning any kind of 2024 release is becoming increasingly unlikely. If that’s the case, Crystal Lake should target 2025’s one and only Friday the 13th: June 13th, 2025.

To date, there have been five movies that released on an actual Friday the 13th, embracing the fun of the day to debut a new sequel. Following that trend to truly celebrate the day and the franchise as a whole, Crystal Lake shouldn’t pass up a chance to release on a Friday the 13th. If filming hasn’t even commenced yet, the two 2024 options aren’t possible, as is the year as a whole. Delaying to 2025 could be a necessity, but it still allows for a very fitting premiere date for the highly-anticipated return of the Friday the 13th franchise.

The Friday The 13th Show Could Benefit From A 2025 Release Window

Sure, it would have been exciting to welcome a new Friday the 13th project in 2024, especially with all of the complicated elements stalling the franchise. However, waiting until June 2025 to target the year’s sole Friday the 13th could actually help increase interest in Crystal Lake. Seeing as the show will rely heavily on the summer camp that saw the disastrous events that jump-started the franchise, it would be very fitting to debut Crystal Lake during the summer months. Friday the 13th fans will surely be interested, but a horror series set at a summer camp airing in June could catch the eye of a new batch of horror fans.
