Google is currently giving away free Nest Mini smart speakers to select YouTube and Google Play subscribers. The Google Nest Mini was formerly known as Google Home Mini and can be a good way to instantly add to (or help create) a smart home setup.
The Google Nest Mini is Google’s take on a smart speaker. It is a small speaker and so while it is capable of playing music or podcasts, it won’t offer the same sound quality as more capable speakers. However, where it can really add value is in the smart department. The Nest Mini is powered by Google Assistant and once set up and running, can respond to voice commands and answer questions, as well as control various smart home devices and services.
First spotted in a Reddit post, Google is currently giving away free Google Nest Minis to select YouTube Premium, YouTube Music, and Google Play Music subscribers. Any subscribers currently based in the United States have a good chance of being eligible for the promotion which not only reduces the price of the smart speaker down to zero, but also doesn’t charge tax or shipping. The offer appears to be open to individual, student, and family plan subscribers who had a paid subscription on May 18, 2020. While family plan accounts do have more than one member, only the main account holder can redeem the promotion.
How To Check If Eligible For A Free Nest Mini
The easiest way to check if you are eligible for a free Google Nest Mini is to check the email account associated with the YouTube or Google Play subscription. Google is currently sending out emails to select subscribers advising them that they can get a free Nest Mini and how to do it. However, if you have not received an email then another option is to click this link. The link will redirect you to the Google Store promotional page where you will have to log in using the Google account linked to the YouTube or Google Play subscription. Once logged in, the page will either advise that the account is or is not eligible for the promotion. If eligible, a promotional code will be shown on the page which can be applied straight away or the user can request the code be sent to their Google account email address.
In terms of the caveats, the offer must be redeemed through an eligible account by 11:59 PM PDT on June 30, 2020 or it will explore. In addition, Google does explain this is a limited-quantity promotion so while an account might be eligible, the free Google Nest Minis will be given away on a first-come basis. Therefore, and depending on availability, the promotion could end before the date declared. Other than those limitations, this is a free Google Nest Mini smart speaker for those who want one.
